Year 1 Day 219: classmates, mom’s singing, sun and birds

I appreciate:

  • The honor of learning, performing, and playing with my 501 classmates.  These people are open-hearted, generous, and brilliant and I feel so fortunate to know them.
  • My mom’s habit of singing bits of song related to something said in a conversation.  Just now I looked up at the daisies on the table and in my mind, I heard my mom’s voice singing, “Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do. I’m half-crazy, all for the love of you.” I β™₯ you, mom!
  • The sunshine and birds singing.  Even though I can also hear the furnace kicking back on, I feel hopeful that someday it will actually be spring!

Year 1 Day 218: doing it right, working on workshops, 40οΏ½

I appreciate:

  • Knowing that I’m finally doing improv “right” (i.e. I have bruises on my knees from last nights Gorillas rehearsal.  If you’re not bruised, you’re not doing it right….) πŸ˜›
  • Finally getting back to work on my Seriously Happy workshops.  Couple more details to line up and then I’m off and running.  Or laughing. πŸ™‚
  • The prospect of a 40ΒΊ+ day this week.  Time for a picnic!

Year 1 Day 216: all about sounds

I appreciate: LeeAnne for yesterday’s FB prompt asking what our favorite sounds are.  What a fun question! Here are my favorite sounds…

  • The sound of laughter – especially the sound of laughter meditation (20-40 people all laughing non-stop for 5-10 minutes. It’s like a sea of laughter), children and babies laughing, my own friends and family laughing, audiences laughing!
  • The sounds of rain, thunder, wind in the trees, birds, crickets, frogs, waves, rivers.
  • Polyphonic acapella music with rich harmonies.  Yummy!

Year 1 Day 215: Big dog-little dog, friends, hyacinths

I appreciate:

  • The person walking a great dane and a dachsund at the same time this morning.  Funny to watch!
  • An afternoon with my dear friends, Kari, Debb, and Cara.  It was so good to see you all.  Thank you for taking the time and energy to get together!
  • The smell of the hyacinths Debb gave me.  They make me believe in spring! πŸ˜›

Year 1 Day 214: shower, sudafed, survey of smiles

I appreciate:

  • That I had the energy to shower this morning!  I’m pretty sure my family appreciates that, too. πŸ˜›
  • Real Sudafed.  You know, the stuff that actually works?  Yay for breathing.
  • Being able to look back at everything I’ve appreciated during the past 9 months. (Yes, I have it all in a spreadsheet – from before I even started posting on FB.)  Sometimes being a geek is a very, very good thing! πŸ™‚

Year 1 Day 212: job news, reconnecting, comforting remedies

I appreciate:

  1. The hat trick of great employment news that my household had this morning.
  2. Reconnecting with the beautiful and funny Burcin. It had been WAY too long.
  3. Echinacea, vitamin C, zinc, homeopathy, tea, tissues, pillows, and all the other things that either provide comfort or make me believe I’ll shorten the length of the dreadful cold I now have. πŸ˜‰

Year 1 Day 210: choices, snow, clarity

I appreciate:

  1. That every moment provides an array of choices. This morning, after lying awake for an hour (several hours before I wanted to wake up) I could choose to a) stay in bed, fuming about not sleeping or b) get up and have some coffee. See? Delicous choices!
  2. Snow. I know this is a wildly unpopular opinion, and yes, I am fairly sick of winter, but it is still very pretty, the way it quietly covers everything with a clean layer of white. (Be careful when you go out, though, because one of the things it is quietly covering today is a layer of ice!)
  3. That moment of clarity, when I breathe and shift from hurry-hurry-hurry-gotta-get-things-done to knowing that there is time for everything and all will be well. β™₯
