Appreciations 1/13-1/17: Purple legos, brilliant insults & compliments, Bat Girl giggles

There are so many things I appreciate every day… and while do I notice and revel in them, I’ve been forgetting to write them down! πŸ˜†

Here are a few things I remember loving about the past week…

happy-legos

Making happy words out of my new purple legos. Thank you, Sarah! πŸ’œ

Being part of the wonderful racism listening and talking group that’s been meeting weekly for the past 6 months. I so appreciate having a safe place to ask my clunky questions, examine my own racism, and process my thoughts and feelings about racism. If you want to know more about our model and what we’re doing, PM me!

Getting ALL green lights on the way home from group on Friday. Woohoo!

My cousin Ivan, the jovial, tiger-booted wit-cracker, who, in response to a challenge, managed to fit a Shakespearean insult into this week’s column. Well done, old pal!bat-ida

My favorite Bat Girl, the softly-sprighted, fairy-gold heartling, Ida! Every day she brings some fresh new joy into my life.

Silly little Luna, who steals cat toys from Sarah’s cats and then plays with them like a crazy kitten!

Sunlight sparkles and shifting shadows on the snow.

Craft time with Katie and Cina!

Appreciations 4.260 – location, locomotion, alphabet

One of the things I love about my walks through the neighborhood is the fantastic variety of houses nestled together on every block. We have everything from 1950’s ramblers to 1920’s bungalows, stucco and brick houses, homes with brand new siding, fancy doors and funky rainbow colored doors, porches, patios, and front stoops, fences and trellises and stone retaining walls. The profusion of styles and colors and personalities never fails to delight me. ❀

More walking! After getting out of the hospital, I lowered my steps goal to 3,000/day – and some days I didn’t even reach that goal. This week, since my amazing session with Lynn, I’ve had increased energy and now my step goal is 6,000/day — which I’ve met every day since then (including one 12,000+ and one 9,000+ day!). It’s nice to feel like I can do things again. πŸ˜€

Alphabetized appreciations, balloons, cousins, daffodils, energy, friends and family, giggles, honey, imagination, jaguars, kaleidoscopes, learning, mustard, North Shore, opals, perfume, quality time, ripples, stars, trompe l’oeil, umbrellas, velvet, waterfalls, xylophones, yarns, zippers.

Appreciations 4.139 – DAY 1234!

Oooooh – it’s day 139 of my 4th year of appreciations….but that makes it day 1234 since I started. Yay for number fun! πŸ˜€

Lewis Carroll for the joy of his Alice stories.

Pam, for using Frabjous Day! in her appreciations today which reminded me of all that fun and inspired this morning’s coloring meditation. Callooh! Callay!

Rose quartz. So pretty and calming. I like that I have lots of it in the house. πŸ™‚

Appreciations 4.109 – change

Woke up this morning having not slept very well, and found that as Pam says, “my cheery was weary” β€” meaning I was feeling a little more cranky/anxious/depressed than usual. So I did my day, noticing this, but not being overly concerned. So what do I appreciate about that? It gave me the chance to super appreciate my brain! I knew it would find some good stuff at some point.

candy cane cremesMckenzie and I went out to pick up just a couple things at Kowalski’s and while we were there, I found my favorite, most delicious seasonal gluten-free cookies! I hadn’t been able to find them at the co-op where I got them last year, nor online, and had been feeling sad. 😦 But there they were!

And yes, my little brain went to work and got all happy about it. And then it kept on working and decided that really the whole rest of the day leading up to that moment had been pretty good, and it pointed out to me that life really is, in most ways, pretty spectacular. Thanks, brain! πŸ˜€

window lightsI am further buoyed by the thrill of having lights up on the fence and around the windows. Pretty pretty pretty lights!

Topping off this very good day was a wonderfully fun rehearsal with women I love. Singing with them fills me up in so many ways!

Hahaha – the fun continues. Thank you, Pam, for your good ideas about wordplay!!….Now I’m thinking of other fun ways to describe my mood this morning…

My sunny felt funny?
My delight took flight?
My jolly’s AWOL-ly?
My sparkle went darkle?
My perky is murky?
My bright’s very slight?
My bubble’s in trouble?
My view’s in a stew?
My elation’s on vacation?
My glee is wee?
My grinning is thinning?
My mood’s got a ‘tude?

Other ideas? I’d love to hear them!!

Appreciations 4.105 – So. Much. Fun.

My appreciation buddy, Pam. She coined and often uses the word “taskies” — which I now use and love! Today she wrote this, which made me giggle and will probably make me giggle a few more times today: “Did a thousand little taskies last night, and then my head fell off and I couldn’t find it. I think it went under the couch.” Hahahaha!

You can see why I love her, right?! Besides being genuine and warmhearted, and generous and wacky, and genius and warbling (see what I did with gen- and wa- words there!?), she is an absolutely beautiful, caring, delightful, energetic, fascinating, gorgeous, helpful, inspiring, joyful kaleidoscope of love. Magic! Nothing outshines Pam’s quirky, rakish style, her tasty, uplifting verbiage, or her wonderful xylophonic “Yes!”es. Zowie! πŸ˜€

Wordplay. (In case you were wondering…) πŸ˜‰

Sunshine, a comfortable night’s sleep, feeling better, planning fun plans, good work.

Looking forward to another marvelous (people don’t really use marvelous much these days.Β  I wonder why.) JimmyD class tonight.

Parentheses, my parents, well-written theses, the heady smell of lilacs, last night’s oh-so-sensational petrichor (because it didn’t look at all strange for me to stand outside my house sniffing the air at 10 pm), chlorophyll, philodendrons, dromedaries, derring do, doo-wop ditties, kitties, tee shots that soar high into the sky and land on the fairway (I mean, in theory.Β  Not sure I’ve ever experienced something like that…).

Productive day in between morning walk and evening walk.

Beautiful weather, flowers, greenifying, sunshine, city.

Nice little visit with my dad.

Daydreaming about what cool classes I’ll take when I have a little more time: swing dance, archery, positive psychology, drawing, painting, graphic design, tai chi, qi gong, and certainly lots more I haven’t even thought of. So much good stuff to learn!

Jill for so many reasons, not the least of which is her regular posting of funny, thought-provoking, and delightful things on FB. So many smiles, so much silliness, mucha diversiΓ³n!
