Appreciations 4.255

Feeling tired … from a WALK this time! I’m tired most of the time, but today it’s at least in part because I got such a long, wonderful walk in yesterday. 🙂 Makes me feel alive again. ❤ Yesterday was my first 10,000 step day in months. I know I won’t be able to do that every day, but if I can even manage it once a week, that will be delightful! 😀

Springtime smells! From yesterday’s walk with Sarah, the smell of new-mown grass and freshly cut wood (from a new fence), and from today’s walk flowering trees, backyard fires, and people grilling dinner. Mmmmm.

Starting to assimilate all that’s happened and adjust to the new normal – at least a little bit! Moments of feeling like myself again. Walking a mile all by myself. Progress!

IMG_4277253. Magically reappearing things…. like my Fitbit, which fell out of its little sleeve thing some time between 7:30 am -10:30 am in one of the 3 rooms I’d been in, and which then disappeared for the day. (Srsly – we shook out bedding, checked behind and under everything, looked everywhere.) It magically reappeared ON TOP of the quilt on top of me after a nap… a quilt which had been shaken out and moved several times. Pretty nifty. 😉

Pushing through lethargy to get something I wanted done done.

Peppermint oil for helping with sinus issues since I can’t take Sudafed for it while I’m on this new med. Not quite as effective, but better than nothing!

254. Sunshine! Oh, how I love sunshine. Especially after so many days of gray. Hello, beautiful!

Really lovely walk with Sarah and Ida. So great to spend time with these darlings and in such nice weather. We walked up to the Rose Gardens and it was so amazing to be outside and to go for a long walk. Made me feel practically human again. 😉

So many nice puppies and puppy owners on our walk! Two beautiful German Shepherd-Malamute sweeties and a humongous and friendly Golden Doodle. I love being able to play a little with dogs…who are not my responsibility! 😀

No Soliciting Spring 2016My newest “No Soliciting” sign. I do love to draw and color and make friendly signs. 🙂

Deeply delightful visit with Sarah and Ida this morning. What a gorgeous morning for a walk! So so so great to reconnect with kindred spirits. 😀

Truly entertaining evening with Terri seeing Legally Blond at Washburn HS. So much fun on so many levels!

Appreciations 4.203 – brilliant walks

First-Lake-Walk-March10-2016first buds 3:11:16

Glorious walks the past couple days! Made my first trek down to the lake this year yesterday…and on my way, saw my first butterfly and my first bud. Brilliant!

I was out at a different time of the day and took completely different routes the past two days, but on both days I was walking past a pair of dogs as they howled with sirens in the distance. In all my years of walking in this neighborhood, that’s never happened before. Now…. two days in a row!

I love how protean the city is. My walk a few days ago was punctuated by quietness. Today’s walk was filled with all the sounds of the city – airplanes, cars, sirens, dogs, people talking, kids playing. So much hustle and bustle.

Thesauri – both the word and the item. I didn’t actually know the word protean before today…and now I do. 😉

Raw asparagus. What a yummy snack!

This afternoon’s wonderful walk. What gorgeous weather. There was a funny moment when all I could hear was the wind in the trees…no airplanes, no cars, no city sounds at all, not even any birds. It only lasted a few seconds, but I was so happy to notice it. My neighbors probably think I’m nuts for all the stopping and closing my eyes I do on my walks, but it’s worth it. 😀

My completely awesome job. I get to do work I love with people I love. So lucky!

Getting to see and talk with John today! How great are video chats? So great! 🙂

fall flowers and leavesFinding time for a walk today. Ohhhhhhhh that sunshine. I love the late afternoon quietness of the city after kids get out from school and before folks are getting home from work. Bliss.

What? Another beautiful day with sunny skies and perfect temperatures? Mmhmm. Yes. Just the thing for a nice walk to the coffee shop with Katie! Oh, and pretty flowers along the way, that’s a bonus. 🙂

Weirdo Toby, putting himself in some kind of kitty time out between the shower curtains. Hahahaha!

A day with so many hours there was plenty of time for everything: work, socializing, household tasks (and miraculously smooth and fast errands – three stops and back home in under and hour!!) Awesome!

golden morning light
cats curled up in pools of warmth
springtime beckoning

Morning walk with my darling girl.

St. Urho’s Day. (Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen!)

Springtime sounds, grasshoppers, grapes, dry sidewalks, finding pennies, clean floors, hope.

Year 1, Day 40: Lake Harriet – cool cars, perfect walk, bird sanctuary

I appreciate Lake Harriet! Here’s why:

  1. It attracts a lot of interesting people, some of whom drive really interesting vehicles! (We were behind the car in the photo as we drove home this morning.)
  2. The walk around the lake is the perfect distance — and the lake itself is the perfect distance from my house. Or, maybe my house is the perfect distance from the lake… 😛
  3. Walking through the Bird Sanctuary is a little like walking through the woods…as long as you ignore the occasional airplane overhead. ;^)

Year 1, Day 13: morning glories, Lake Harriet, KFNA Farmers’ Market

I appreciate:

1. The beautiful morning glories that have finally bloomed on our fence.
2. Living so close to Lake Harriet — and having the time and energy walk around it!
3. The Kingfield Farmer’s market – both in its bustling current-day state and the memory of sitting out there with coffee guy, soap lady, tea lady, and a handful of farmers, selling my jewelry (me, the jewelry lady) every Sunday during those first few years 🙂
