Appreciations Year Three: Day 195

color my slipper 3-3-15My awesome $1 slippers which replace my ratty 10-year old slippers and double as a coloring project. So many hours of sharpie coloring fun in my future!Β  (Don’t worry, I’ll post photos of my progress on the coloring project. I know you’ll want to keep track.) πŸ˜›

Pretty snow. Even though I am tired of winter, this morning’s snowfall sure is beautiful.

So many funny and smart and interesting people in my life. What a joy it is to converse with them.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 180 – the geek edition (as if there’s only one of these!)

This cat purr noise generator site. Seriously, so much fun — and surprisingly calming to run in the background during the work day.

The thrill of adding new code to the JavaScript file using the Chrome Dev Ed and committing the changes and pushing them to my GitHub repo so Dave can see them.Β ALL ON MY OWN. See me learning fancy new stuff?! Fancy new IMPORTANT stuff. How else would I come up with the idea for a story about a “remarkably unremarkable scullery maid who must tame the fierce dragon Kolwandon to liberate Prince Darling”? πŸ˜›

Pretty snow – light and fluffy and not so much that it causes problems. πŸ™‚

Appreciations Year Three: Day 141 (the vortex edition)

sparkle love

The adventure of going out to grocery shop with the wind whipping snow into sparkly vortices (or vortexes if you prefer) all around.

The triumphant and comforting return to a tidy kitchen and a warm house!

My sweet girl, who knows the best way to coax a smile from her discouraged and tired mama. (Hint: it involves hastily written sweet words and sparkles.) β™₯

A day that turns itself around, hokey-pokey like.

Year 1, Day 114: triple 12, home from driving, nice drive and a donkey, snowdrifts

I appreciate:

  • That it’s 12/12/12!
  • That I am back home (with Katie!!) after driving all day. πŸ™‚ I also appreciate that despite getting back to town at rush hour, it only added an extra 20 minutes to the trip total. Phew.
  • That it was warm and sunny today so the roads were pretty clear. Oh, and it was really nice weather for driving. OH – and I saw a donkey on the way to Morris, which reminded me of Show X on Monday (ask Andrew Zimmern about donkey if you’re curious).
  • The spectacularly beautiful snowdrifts along Hwy 28.

Year 1, Day 84: snow, chickpeas, pink canoe painting

I appreciate:

  1. That since it has to be cold, it at least has the decency to snow. Thank you, weather.
  2. Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas. Just tried them yesterday and they are so yummy! Thanks, Burcin Ozel, for the suggestion!
  3. The little strip of pink on the canoe in the painting my grandpa did. I wonder what he thought about as he painted it. I didn’t really ever know him, but from the stories I’ve heard, he was a supremely kind and interesting man.
