Appreciations 4.138 – music and more

Pandora. I can always find some new instrumental music to listen to while I work (if I listen to songs with words, I get too distracted!) What a nice service.

Ellis’ new album, The Guest House. It is her best album yet. What an amazing album. It is beautiful, fun, inviting and on all levels gorgeous! It goes on sale in Feb, but you can still pre-order it. I highly advise it. 😀

Kitty cuddles at the end of a long day. Thank you, my feline friends.

Appreciations 4.120 – A really good night

Watching snowflakes swirling in the air as I worked this morning. Pretty!

Finishing work in time for a teeny tiny nap before leaving for tonight’s concert.

The sheer bliss of Ellis‘ show on every level. Watching Ellis share herself so warmly and beautifully, listening to her amazing songs, and seeing her effect on folks in the audience is a profoundly humbling and breathtaking experience. Add to that the joy of sharing the night with so many people I adore, snuggling with Ida during some of the songs and watching her open people’s hearts in her own way, hearing Ruby sing Deck the Halls and entertain us with some amazing jokes, seeing friends I’d not seen in ages, singing along as part of Ellis’ “flashmob band”… I don’t have the words to adequately describe how soul-satisfying it was. It was a really, really good night. 💗💗💗

The wonder of both an appreciation practice and spreadsheets. It’s an amazing thing to sit down to write the day’s appreciations and to be treated to whatever was wonderful about the same day last year. 💗💗💗

Listening to my kids sing and make music. One of the sweetest sounds on the planet.

The fascinating way that life is sprinkled with challenges, opportunities for growth, beauty, fun, and love all at the same time. It really is all there, all the time. Hmmm.

Appreciations 4.94: Breathtaking Beauty

Luxurious and unstructured morning for drawing and listening to my audio book. So nice to have some down time during which rest wasn’t required. 😛

An exciting afternoon of writing. I started out just tweaking a few worksheets I’ve developed to use with clients the past year or so and found myself writing, um, the introduction and first chapter of my book. Apparently. 😀

Simply stunning Nordic Contemplative service. I’m generally not much of a churchgoer, but the music and the prayers were perfect in every way. The stunning sounds from the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle filled me with awe – how could so many wonderful sounds be coming from ONE instrument? Then Peggy‘s unbelievably beautiful kulokks and improvised songs sent chills all over me and filled me up with the most wonderful peace. It was all I could do not to sit there weeping. I told her it’s a good thing I don’t live with her because I would ask her to sing all day every day! 😉

And then the joy, oh the joy, of singing with my beloved Earthtones again. What an utterly blissful experience. I know a LOT of words…and yet, am at a loss to describe the breathtaking beauty of the evening. 🙂

Sunshine and mild weather. I will take it as long as we can get it!

2015-11-08 09.31.56 pm 2015-11-08 09.37.50 pm Working on fun little projects and taskies. I decided not to work on work today (what!?!) and instead did entertaining and satisfying things like adding new themes to firefox, gmail, and chrome. I also did more clean-up work on files – this time it was my google drive files (have hundreds of them). It’s so fun to get rid of unneeded stuff. Plus, I got winter stuff out and sorted through that and did a few more little cleaning projects, too. Things feel lighter and lighter. I love it. ❤

Getting to spend time with Katie again this morning. That’s 3 or 4 times this week. What a treat!

lyrics ETFinally getting time to write out the lyrics for some Earthtones songs. It’s an important step for me in memorizing songs in other languages. With our first show coming up in a few weeks, it was high time I got to this!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 255

new shoe sorterold shoe sorterOut with the old (broken and icky) and in with the new (gorgeous!). Thanks Mom & Dad – sorry it didn’t work in your space, but pretty dang happy it works in mine. 😉

Rainbow carrots from the co-op! How fun that the different colors have very slightly different carrot flavors!

Amazing afternoon in Peggy’s backyard, celebrating her birthday and retirement, and reconnecting and SINGING with my beloved Earthtones friends. So much happiness squished into a couple little hours. ❤

Blooming blooms abloomin’ away.

Sunshine, singing, harmonies, Scottish mouth music, newly vacuumed floors, comfy bed, rest, peace.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 173

The hilarious randomness of the sound track my mind generates. In the middle of the night, it was the theme song from Dr. Who (makes sense – I just watched Dr. Who), but then upon waking this morning, it was Sebben Crudele which I’ve neither sung nor listened to in ages. Where did that come from?! So funny!

Cool, delicious water whenever I want it. What a wonderful, amazing gift.

The fact that putting off one task can often mean getting something else done that’s been on the list for a long time. My tidy, re-organized office looks great. And hey, I got around to those other tasks….eventually. 🙂
