Appreciations 4.208

The fun of running errands in pouring rain last night. Our first really rainy day of the season. How lovely to be out in it for a bit!

Finally getting some work done on the kitchen backsplash project. Hooray! It’s been in its unfinished state for sooooo long. What a relief to finally be getting it spruced up!

Remembering more sweet details of my visit with Sarah last weekend: truly gorgeous wind chimes – beautifully deep and sonorous, but somehow soft and vibrant, too; the sweet golden retriever puppy trotting up to the fence to say hello, tail awag and nuzzling our hands for petting; Ida, happily sitting on the sidewalk, taking things out of my purse one by one and handing them to me or Sarah. 💗

Appreciations 4.121 – appreciate, rinse, repeat

I love reading what I appreciated on the same date last year before I write each day’s appreciation. It’s so much fun to think about last year’s brilliant and sweet moments! It’s also funny when things line up… like me having a cold starting at the same time last year. Haha! There have been other, more random things that have lined up from one year to the next, though I can’t remember them right now (because of my foggy cold-brain. Hahaha!)

Spent a lovely afternoon with the Delaneys today. Mmmm. I love that even when we’ve not been able to see each other much, being together still feels like home.  💗

A lovely evening with Katie and Cina who came over to bake about a gazillion snickerdoodles! I love how the holidays seem to give us excuses to see each other more often. I also LOVE that they made tiny mini fairy-sized snickerdoodle dots! 😀

Apples.

Nice visit with my brother Jeff today. Still trying to get my mind around the fact that soon we will live in the same state – less than 15 minutes away from each other. What?!?

purple couchMy comfy comfy couch. There are days where it is just the thing. 😉

Adam’s sweet idea to ask people to post their favorite photo on his timeline for his birthday. So much fun for birthday wishers and wishee alike. Wishee? Sure. I’m gonna say that’s a word.

Year 1, Day 70: healthy parents, helpful staff, winter wrestling

I am so grateful for:

  1. My parents’ good health. I enjoy them so much!
  2. The Alzheimer’s Association — especially their 24/7 helpline (1-800-272-3900), whose understanding, well-informed, caring staff are a true gift.
  3. The sudden memory (stirred up by a crossword clue) of Ivan Raconteur and Brian watching pro wrestling, then deciding it looked fun and taking their own version of a match outside…in the middle of the winter. Hahahaha! What a vision. 🙂

Year 1, Day 25: golf memory, car, adventure

Today I appreciate:

  1. The memory of this thrilling golf outing 2 years ago. Caught on the back 9 in a sudden and blinding rain (we actually had golf carts this time – first time ever)… driving like crazy to get back to the club, with Debb shrieking and laughing with me all the way. One of the best cabin stories ever. (Plus, I appreciate my amazing family — some of the shiniest, brightest, funniest people ever.)
  2. My car. I absolutely love my car. It’s purdy and takes me wherever I need to go. I am happy every single time I drive somewhere.
  3. The adventure of my life. I have had the great good fortune to meet and work with truly exceptional people in so many areas of my life….and I continue to meet fascinating, talented, generous people every time I try something new!

Year 1, Day 18: Dealing with Dragons, Chinaberry, Go, Dog. Go!

I appreciate:

  1. Patricia Wrede’s book, Dealing with Dragons. I’ve loved it from the first time I read it to Katie when she was 6 or 7 and love re-reading it now. One of my all-time favorite books!
  2. Chinaberry, which is probably where I learned about Dealing with Dragons — and so many other beloved books.
  3. Go, Dog. Go! (oh, how I loved that party scene!), Harriet the Spy, Catwings, Mr. Putter & Tabby Bake the Cake, Little Women, A Wrinkle in Time, The Awakening, Pride and Prejudice and so many other books that I’ve read, loved, re-read and shared with the kids. Yay books! 😛
