Year 1, Day 86: huge appreciation for HUGE
It will come as no surprise for you to learn that I appreciate HUGE Theater! Here are today’s reasons:
- It is one of the most open and welcoming theater communities I’ve ever encountered.
- People of all skill levels are encouraged to explore their creativity, stretch past their comfort levels to see what’s there, and to see an expanded version of themselves in the process.
- Honesty and humor color all the improv that happens there — and you can see this amazing live theater 6 nights a week!
Year 1, Day 85: incidental invite events, habitually happy head, endless improv
I appreciate:
- Y’all’s tolerance of my invitational ineptitude… Lots of events this week and I may have invited the uninterested or missed the interested. 😛
- The 360-some days/year that I don’t have a headache!
- Advil. 🙂
- This week’s Improv-a-thon at HUGE. Only 2 more days….
Year 1, Day 84: snow, chickpeas, pink canoe painting
I appreciate:
- That since it has to be cold, it at least has the decency to snow. Thank you, weather.
- Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas. Just tried them yesterday and they are so yummy! Thanks, Burcin Ozel, for the suggestion!
- The little strip of pink on the canoe in the painting my grandpa did. I wonder what he thought about as he painted it. I didn’t really ever know him, but from the stories I’ve heard, he was a supremely kind and interesting man.

Year 1, Day 83: friends and family, audience, improv community
I appreciate:
- My amazing friends and family who showed up for our ComedySportz show yesterday. It was so great to see you all out there. Thank you! ♥
- My classmates’ friends and families who showed up. It was SO much fun to play to a packed house!
- Getting to know and learning improv with some of the brightest, most generous, most talented people in the Twin Cities. 🙂
Year 1, Day 82: sleeping, saturday, show
Today I am grateful:
- That Gracie slept through the night. Hallelujah for a decent night’s sleep.
- The spaciousness of Saturday…so many possible activities today. Gray and rainy – a perfect day for baking. Or a nap! Or…
- …being in an awesome (and free!) improv show!
Year 1, Day 81: gratitude, sunshine, friends
I appreciate:
- All the gratitude posts popping up on FB. I love that so many of my friends are doing 30 days of gratitude! ♥
- Sunshine and 50º weather. I love when November doesn’t feel like November.
- My funny and talented friends with whom I get to do a show at Comedy Sportz tomorrow!!
Year 1, Day 80: small kindnesses, rocks, phone
I appreciate:
- The fact that small gestures of kindness can have such a profound effect. Having been the recipient of many such acts recently, it was especially lovely to see my MIL smiling when we took her out to dinner last night.
- Amethyst! It reminds me of our family adventures at the amethyst mine in Canada. We know how to make it rain! ;^) Plus, rocks are just cool.
- My phone, for allowing me to take pix of whatever random thing (or lovely person) I’m appreciating in the moment. 🙂

Year 1, Day 79: voting, results, hope
I appreciate:
- VOTING. What a fabulous privilege!
- RESULTS. I appreciate the results of this election – especially my cousin’s election and the WA, MD, ME and MN votes.
- HOPE. I appreciate feeling hopeful that despite political and ideological differences, this time both parties will find a way to focus on what we have in common and make some real progress toward improving lives in the US.
Year 1, Day 78: voting, kids, vacuums
I appreciate:
- Voting!
- My cool kids, one of whom is down at the U, getting out the vote (after voting in his first election) and the other of whom has been working for her causes for weeks.
- Clean floors. Besides voting and working, I vacuumed today. 😛
