Appreciations 4.291 – back on the grid

Getting back up after a few down days.

The joy of preparing Pillsbury Plaza for Debb’s visit. So. Much. Fun. Thanks for the help and inspiration, Mckenzie, Katie, and Cina!

Last night’s side-splitting giggle fest with Debb when we took a selfie to share with Libby for her birthday. Happy birthday, cuz!! We even channeled Aunt Barb’s silent laugh and Ivan’s foot-stomping, knee-slapping laugh! It’s all in the family. 😉

Appreciations 4.202 – Fun

Waking up after a delightful dream in which Pam and I were shopping at someone’s moving sale (in their house) and finding all sorts hidden treasures in nooks and crannies like beautiful tapestries and clever and funny cat toys and books we’d always wanted to read but had never been able to find. SO much fun in the dream, and so like spending time with Pam – always seeking and finding hidden beauty, fun, and joy! 💗

Qigong. It’s not yet a daily habit, but I’m getting better about remembering to do it and am still astonished by how profoundly even one session improves my sleep. Wowsers.

FunLooking forward to fun plans this weekend, planning new fun plans, and listening to all the fun new books I just reserved. 😀

Appreciations 4.186- fun, friendly folks, and foresight

thank youI love having reasons to make new cards! Fun fun fun.

The friendly folks I’ve been talking to for the last month at MN Care. Eventually we’ll get my file untangled and I’ll have insurance again…Meanwhile, they are always so pleasant to talk with and we generally find something to laugh about while we chat. 🙂

The clever me who had the foresight to make the stock yesterday so I could easily finish up some warming, lovely soup today. And now to bed – before 8 pm. I must need the rest! 😉

Appreciations 4.185 – more giggles and grins

Wonderful visit with Pam this afternoon. Even though we were both on the verge of claiming the day for down time, we remembered that we get energy from spending time together. Yay, us! I love how wide ranging our conversations are – always interesting, enlightening, and full of laughs. 😀 3D coloring book

The amazing present Pam gave me – a coloring book full of geometric patterns and squiggly shapes like the ones I like to draw…. and it comes with 3D glasses!!! So. Much. Fun!

Looking back on a truly sweet weekend… so many good RubyCuddles and games and conversations and playtime with my amazing friends.lucky star Ohhhh – I guess I should thank my lucky star… like this one Pam made for me today! (It’s about as big a dime… but puffy!!) Heh. 🙂

Appreciations 4.171 – the concert

WheeIt’s a little hard to find words to adequately describe Ellis‘ CD release concert last night. 💗💗💗 The open-hearted joy passing back and forth between Ellis and the audience was palpable. Her unbelievably beautiful music, with her strong, clear, gorgeous voice, perfectly balanced accompaniment, and soul-stirring lyrics bewitched us and transported us to some new level of joyful in-the-moment living. What a treat to watch her and Rad playing together and having so much fun as they created a new kind of magic. Every song was amazing in its own way and Ellis’ stories made us laugh and cry and whoop and holler with glee. And OMG the Desdemona-Ellis-Nina Simone folk rap mashup! O. M. G. No words – you just had to be there. 😀 The night was made even better for me, by getting to share it with people I adore! So many fun moments of shared joy and love. 💗 It was an incredible night and I am profoundly grateful for having been part of it.

Sunshiny Sundays.

Naps. 😉

Appreciations 4.158 – lots of stuff!

Lots of sleeping in the past 24 hours – naps and waking up after 9 am this morning (which is practically unheard of for me!). I wonder if it has anything to do with starting Qi Gong. Interesting!

A nice unscheduled day yesterday. I only did 30 minutes of work work, so it was just like a day off. How nice to sleep, read, draw and relax. I also started batch #3 of soup. After talking with Pam, I decided to try adding mire poix to the soup this time. How fun to experiment with making food to see what I like. Isn’t it funny that I’ve never done this before?! I do love the way the house smells while I’m making soup. 🙂

Once the soup was going, I cooked sweet potatoes to eat with leftover chicken and made GF chocolate cake. It’s nice to have food and treats all set for the week!

Today’s word: whimsy. It makes me feel happy to think about it.

Wodehouse words, phrases, and sentences – some just for fun, a couple I had to look up:
cachexia
poltroon
bally
blighter
paroxysm
a beefy blow
…became involved in a bush
“Those oily-looking depths suggested the presence of frogs, newts, and other slimy things that work their way down a man’s back and behave clammily around his spine…”

Behave clammily. Ah hahahaha!

Spent more time than usual on FB yesterday. What funny, interesting, dear people you all are. I especially enjoyed Corinna’s conversation with her friends about the “Be like Bill” meme that’s going around. Her reactions we so much like mine (I find some of them funny and celebrate everyone who is enjoying them, but mostly they feel too narrow (m/f only for gender) and shaming for my taste.) I love the interesting, inspiring, thought-provoking things my friends post!

Here’s my version for today!

Appreciations 4.79

Writing a testimonial for someone I appreciate, like, and admire. What a lovely opportunity to reflect on the best qualities of that person!

Remember that thing about me wanting to find fun in as many situations as possible? Well, it turns out that the impound lot is one of those places it really does take some determination — especially when you’re there for the 2nd time in 3 days! 😛

Impound lot smileToday while we were waiting and hoping that the jump start would work so Cina could get her car out of the lot (yes, this is still from the street cleaning this week and no, the jump start didn’t do the trick), I was standing outside feeling cold and a looking for something fun and distracting, so I decided to use my feet to round up nearby rocks and make a smiley face in the parking lot.

Shortly, a security guy drove over and told me I needed to be over near my car, so I pointed to the ground and told him I was just making a smiley face. He laughed and looked a little confused, so I told him about my appreciation journal and looking for something fun at the impound lot. He sort of grinned at me and said yes, it was okay to take a photo before I went back over to the car. So that was fun! I wonder what effect it had on him!?! Hahaha!

Even though the day didn’t really go the way we’d planned, Katie and Cina and I did get to hang out a lot (mostly AT the lot – hahaha), but then we had dinner and watched a movie together, so it was a really nice day in the end.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 315

Purple June AppreciationsLast month’s purply spreadsheet (though now that I think about it, I should have done Pride rainbow colors!) 🙂 I think greens for July. Oh, how I love to invent fun for myself!

Fabulous lunch/meeting with Melinda today. What good plans we are planning!

Miraculously completing both my newsletter (and associated new web pages) AND all my invoices while it is still technically July 1. Now I’ll just need to sleep for 12 hours… 😉

Year 1, Day 60: improv people, rehearsal, Timmy

I appreciate:

  1. The vibrant, lovely, funny people I’m getting to know through my improv groups.
  2. Last night’s hilarious rehearsal with Erin Kennedy, Anthony James and Karen Baker. Is it legal to laugh that much?
  3. My friend, Timmy Riordan, for being the adventurous, witty, charming man he is — and for our great conversation this morning! 🙂
