I appreciate my cousin, Ivan, the curmudgeon! Especially his 1) wisdom 2) humor 3) exquisite use (and enjoyment) of language! You can read his column here. 🙂

Year 1, Day 56: resources, neuroplasticity, Kim
I appreciate:
- All the resources I’ve come across in the past year that have helped me learn how to change my thoughts and create new neural pathways. Everything in my life is more or less the same — but my life is completely different!
- Neuroplasticity. How cool that our brains are a little like silly-putty. Hahaha!
- The chance encounter with Kim at Back to Balance-Achieve Health today. What a wonderfully fun surprise!
Year 1, Day 51: deconstruction drinks, complexity, simplicity
I appreciate:
- Deconstructing Deconstruction over drinks with my classmates from HUGE 401 last night!
- The, um, excitement of last year’s Skynote work (3 different accounting systems, 4 bank accounts at 2 banks, 4 assistants, ~20 clients).
- The simplicity of Skynote Consulting now! (1 system, 2 accts at 1 bank, 1 (completely awesome) employee, ~20 clients). Whew!
Year 1, Day 50: Kent, transformation, unexpected delights, dance with chair
I appreciate:
- Kent, who, on his birthday, posted (on Facebook) this lovely thought, which I want to share with all MY FB friends: You are all dear to me. You all matter. Never imagine that your life doesn’t! 🙂
- Last night’s reminder of the power of laughter yoga and community. Thank you, friends, for helping me transform my crabby, headachy, overwhelmed mood into one of peaceful joy
- The unexpected delight of learning that a fellow laugher from the laughter yoga club is a HUGE Theater student — and the fun of sitting with her at Show X last night!
- Tim Hellendrung’s exquisite dance with a chair, and his impeccable recasting of it in a later scene!
Year 1, Day 48: Timmy’s phrasing, scenes about trucks, pancakes at Ruby’s
I appreciate:
- The way Timmy phrases his appreciations. Thank you, Timmy Riordan!
- Scenes about very sharp trucks, boats with 40 traps, dune holes and stew. Thank you, Splendid Things!
- Pancakes At Ruby’s. Thank you for a beautiful morning, Terri, Ellis & Ruby!
Year 1, Day 46: Sara’s use of language, newspaper placement, girls day with Debb
I appreciate:
- Sara, who, in response to my evening plans, said, “I’m a fan of magical thinking as it relates to scheduling.” The sentence is STILL making me giggle . 🙂
- The newspaper delivery person for landing the paper right by the front door so I didn’t have to freeeeeeeeeze this morning.
- Getting to spend the day with Debb today! Yay for girls’ day in Rochester!
Year 1, Day 36: smooth roads, blue sky, Mary
I appreciate:
- The new smoothness of Park Avenue — and the people who do that work! I love driving on well-paved roads, but would NOT want to do the work. Thank you road workers!
- The sharp blueness of the sky this morning. I know we could use some rain, but the sky against the turning leaves is breathtaking and I’m loving it.
- My friend and fellow Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, Mary, who got the wheels turning for us to teach laughter yoga for the MS Society. Can’t wait to start!
Year 1, Day 34: improv show, fun breakfast, fun brunch
I appreciate:
- Yesterday’s fantastic show at Comedy Sportz – brilliant!
- Today’s hilarious and fun family breakfast with my brothers and our families. The idea of Jeff in that t-shirt…..Oh hahahaha!
- My delightful late-morning brunch with T & R — plus Katie! Oh, so good for my heart. (Plus, Terri makes THE BEST gluten-free pancakes ever!) Wow!
Year 1, Day 33: Friday evening, family morning, improv class
I appreciate:
- The most wonderful Friday evening, spent with Terri and Ruby (who calls me Aunt Dinana. I love that!)
- A magnificent Saturday morning, hanging out with the family, doing nothing in particular.
- A spectacular Saturday class at ComedySportz Twin Cities
Year 1, Day 17: catching up with friends, gratitude’s effect, autumn leaves
I appreciate:
- Getting to catch up with Sharon Parker and Lini Wilkins last night. What lovely women!
- The incredible effect that doing this “better brain challenge” is having on my life. Surprisingly easy to do – and with such profound results. Wow.
- Seeing the leaves starting to turn and feeling the crispness of autumn in the air! 🙂
