Appreciations 4.15 – present, past, future

More good work on the “stuff-I’ve-been-putting-off” front. Each little step makes me feel sooooo much lighter.

Walking around the U of M campus with the kids. Well, not too much walking. It was so hot! But enough to remember what it was like and how much I liked the first few days of classes. So many possibilities!

Movie night with Terri and Ruby. The 5 year-old perspective adds a beautiful new element to movies! ❀

Appreciations 4.14 – Connections

Days like today that are filled with brilliant moments of connection, love, and good timing! How fun to see Colleen at the credit union. That is always a fun errand (I really, really like all the folks who work there!), but getting to see and reconnect with Colleen made it sparkle with love. ❀

Ohhh, snuggling down for sleep with a lovey, cuddly 5 year-old. I didn’t actually fall asleep, but it sure was sweet snuggle time with Ruby!

And then a wonderful conversation with Terri (even though it was past both our bedtimes!) πŸ˜‰

Finishing off that sweet, sweet day by chatting with the folks out on the stoop who were enjoying the slightly cooler weather. What fun to see Leigh and meet some new lovely people. So many good, satisfying connections in one little day! ❀ ❀ ❀

And this: http://forreadingaddicts.co.uk/language/20-interesting-facts-about-the-english-language/147. Especially this: “The combination of letters -ough can be pronounced in 9 different ways (hold onto your hats USA)! The following sentence contains them all: β€œThe rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a plough, he coughed and hiccoughed.”

Sharing and shared things. πŸ™‚

Appreciations 4.7

Still having fun today remembering last night’s visit with Pam! We had so much fun talking about songs and words and books and waysΒ to continue on a path of growing and learning. πŸ˜‰

These words: Ensorcelled, insouciant, inexorable, encharm, penchant, loquacious, obsequious, saucy.

Luna %22playing%22 w Ruby Aug 2015Luna and her joyful “playing” with Ruby the other day. πŸ˜‰

Making more progress on the decluttering/downsizing… a whole bag of papers for the recycling bin today!

The fun of listening to Winnie the Pooh while I worked today. Still one of my favorite books!

My mom’s AMAZING zucchini cake… and the fact that she made a gluten-free batch for us. Yum!!

Appreciations 4.6

A newly paved road. Specifically, the frontage road south of 394 between Penn and Cedar Lake Pkwy. Before it was so bumpy that I always felt queasy after driving on it (and I use it regularly) – now it is gloriously smooth and and an easy ride! Plus, since it’s not quite done, the manhole covers are sticking up a bit, so it was like a driving game weaving in and out of those. πŸ˜‰

More decluttering and downsizing progress today. I love how light it feels to shed unwanted/unneeded things!

A deeply satisfying, beautiful visit with my beloved Pam. Oh how we laugh and how easy our time together is! She walked me through a mini Qi Gong session that was astonishing! I can’t wait to get started! So much love and bliss and yummy in one little visit. ❀ ❀ ❀

Watching a bunch of my bookmarked “fun and happiness” videos to choose a few to send to a friend who could use a laugh this week. What a fun half hour! πŸ™‚

Appreciations 4.3

Fabulous brunch with Terri and Ruby and Katie and Cina. Delicious food and so much fun!

Wonderful client meeting today. I’m so lucky I get to work with people I really enjoy doing stuff I like. πŸ™‚

Long, relaxing evening with David. Laughs, good conversation, and the loan of his chrome book until I can get my laptop in to get it fixed.

Google Drive! So much of what I need to get my work done is in the cloud, so I’m all set even when I can’t use my laptop. Phew!

Appreciations 4.1

New year of appreciations – new nomenclature. I wonder if I’ll like it! Good thing I can change my mind if I want to. πŸ™‚

Remembering how challenging it felt way back at the beginning, when I was just going to do this for 21 days. I’d sometimes have to wrack my brain to think of what I appreciated. How simple it seems now. Well…most days! πŸ˜‰

All the towels clean at one time!

Funny weather – so hot, then so cool, then hot again. Wheeeee.

Unexpected sweet words at unexpected times. What a treat. ❀

Planning fun plans. I like that!

Appreciations Year Three: DAY 365!

Three years of writing daily appreciations. Wow! How lucky I am to have stumbled upon this practice. How grateful I am for the ways it has rewired my brain so it is now always on the lookout for what is good and lovely in the world. How thrilled I am to have found kindred spirits whose desire to look for the best, reframe things in the most positive light, and search out nuggets of joy, have helped me on my own path.

The past three years have been filled with incredible changes (and yes, challenges) some of which would have seemed insurmountable, unbearable if it weren’t for the constant stream of noticing what is beautiful. This practice has made is so much easier to see, even on darker days, how incredibly lucky I am to know the people I know. Wonderful, bright, funny, deeply loving and supportive, generous and kind people everywhere I turn. It has helped me notice how beautiful the wind sounds as it blows through leaves on trees, how intensely blue the sky can be, how powerful the sound of laughter is. Today, especially, I am grateful for gratitude. ❀

Also, coffee.

And new beginnings.

Delicious hamburgersAnd hamburgers that are “delicious” β€” and a daughter who understands my appreciation of well-placed “quotation marks” and will take photos of the best examples to send to me. πŸ™‚

Appreciations Year Three: Day 364

Scrolling through posts on FB and thinking how much I really, really like my smart, sassy, funny, honest, vulnerable, brave, delightful friends.

Fun first meetings. New people are interesting! πŸ™‚

Delicious coffee at Royal Grounds.

More working and listening to the rain. I love that this weather still feels like a treat — and that it will make the sunshine and heat feel like a treat when they return.

Newly arranged bedroom – disorienting and fun!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 362

Toby nestToby, who is loving the makeshift nest that appears each day when I move all the stuff out of my room in order to paint. πŸ˜‰

Another lovely, rainy day. It’s fun to have a change from all the hot sunny weather we’ve been having.

Sweet friends saying hi and checking in – just when I need it!
