Appreciations 4.44

Ooohhh 4.44.

Katie’s rainbow birthday present. I like snark. I also like rainbows (the rainbow presents — all rainbow items — were in the black box). 😉

Apple picking with Katie, Cina & Mckenzie. I love this tradition – and what nice weather we got! We decided to pick Cortlands & Sweet Tangos this year. The Cortlands are ginormous! And tasty! 🙂 IMG_3436

IMG_3437So much fun hanging out with my work & prov buddies Amy & Alison. Oh how they delight me. ❤

Appreciations 4.41

Gorgeous weather. Those blue skies! That sunshine! I love it.

Driving home around the lakes with the windows open. The water was soooo blue and the breeze was just right.

Seeing a big group of people on Segways at the lake. There was something inexplicably delightful about the sight of all those people on Segways, all smiling, laughing, taking photos and videos. They looked like they were having so much fun! 🙂

Katie’s birth day, all those many years ago. What an amazing adventure began that day! ❤ ❤ ❤ Happy birthday to my fascinating, funny, bright, beautiful, snarky, sweet kid! 😀

(And as a gift to you, Katie, I took out “smart” from that sentence since I knew it would bug you to have two alliterative couplets and one triplet. You are welcome. 😉 )

Appreciations 4.31 – Friendly walks, fruitful work, family wonderfulness

farmers market haul 9:20:15What a stunning day! Perfect for a walk up to the Kingfield Farmer’s Market (all those colors!) … and then a walk over to the coffee shop with Sarah & Ida. I love our walking visits! ❤

Surprisingly productive middle of the day – including getting 2 plants re-potted (a task that’s been on my list for months) and a nice chunk of work.

Super fun visit catching up with and trading house-repair/painting/cleaning stories with Jeff & Laura this evening! At least I only have ONE house to do that for… not the one being sold, the temporary one, AND the new one. What a lot of work they’ve been doing! I’m excited that we’ll all be living in MN soon. 😀

Appreciations 4.30 – Infographic

Appreciation InfographicBeautiful day for a walk up to the coffee shop with Katie and Cina! What a fabulous way to start the weekend! ❤

Coffee.Coffee.Coffee!

The way my brain works — or doesn’t — when I sleep fewer than 6 hours. The whole day is an interesting, hazy cloud of half-thoughts, starts and stops, and lots of wondering: “I wonder what I was starting to say/think/do?” 😀 What an interesting state of being!

Canva. I can see that I’m going to be playing with this for lots and lots of hours as I start making my own infographics. Fun!

Wodehouse. The way he phrases things and the interactions between his characters make me giggle. I especially love Wooster’s relationship with Aunt Dahlia. Oh, how this delights me!

More fun words like propinquity.

Nice little chat with Jeff tonight. Soon we’ll be able to chat in person – whenever we want. What?!? How lucky I am to like my family so very much. ❤

Appreciations 4.15 – present, past, future

More good work on the “stuff-I’ve-been-putting-off” front. Each little step makes me feel sooooo much lighter.

Walking around the U of M campus with the kids. Well, not too much walking. It was so hot! But enough to remember what it was like and how much I liked the first few days of classes. So many possibilities!

Movie night with Terri and Ruby. The 5 year-old perspective adds a beautiful new element to movies! ❤

Appreciations 4.4

More Ruby time this afternoon with a little bonus visit with Ellis. I am so lucky to have such good friends! 🙂

Quick and easy visit at the genius bar, with the added bonus that my dad just happens to have an extra hard drive on hand, so I don’t even have to shop. Thanks, Dad!

My super heroes Cina and Katie who not only picked up my prescription while they were out, but also came home with dinner and chocolate!<3

Appreciations Year Three: DAY 365!

Three years of writing daily appreciations. Wow! How lucky I am to have stumbled upon this practice. How grateful I am for the ways it has rewired my brain so it is now always on the lookout for what is good and lovely in the world. How thrilled I am to have found kindred spirits whose desire to look for the best, reframe things in the most positive light, and search out nuggets of joy, have helped me on my own path.

The past three years have been filled with incredible changes (and yes, challenges) some of which would have seemed insurmountable, unbearable if it weren’t for the constant stream of noticing what is beautiful. This practice has made is so much easier to see, even on darker days, how incredibly lucky I am to know the people I know. Wonderful, bright, funny, deeply loving and supportive, generous and kind people everywhere I turn. It has helped me notice how beautiful the wind sounds as it blows through leaves on trees, how intensely blue the sky can be, how powerful the sound of laughter is. Today, especially, I am grateful for gratitude. ❤

Also, coffee.

And new beginnings.

Delicious hamburgersAnd hamburgers that are “delicious” — and a daughter who understands my appreciation of well-placed “quotation marks” and will take photos of the best examples to send to me. 🙂

Appreciations Year Three: Day 353

Debb & Tim for bringing Mom to the hospital to visit Dad. Thank you!

Getting to spend a little time with Debb and Tim myself before they headed back home. 🙂

The crazy things that line up from year to year…including things like having to call the gas company to come check out a gas smell on almost the same day (last year it was 8/6). Fascinating!

Starting project #3 – MY bedroom!! Yay!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 352

Katie and Cina for getting up at what-the-hell o-clock this morning to keep my mom and me company during my dad’s surgery. 🙂

That my dad’s surgery went so well! It was shorter than expected, they only had to take out one lobe, the early pathology suggests the cancer hasn’t spread, and Dad looked great afterward. Hooray!

All the love and support we felt from folks calling, texting, posting on FB, visiting, and checking in throughout the day. We are lucky to be surrounded by such generous, loving, and thoughtful people. ❤

That somehow, Katie and Cina and I found the energy to keep working on the next room painting project after we got home today. Well, after a nap, and lunch, and a long break… 😉
