Entertaining lunchtime conversation with Cina. I learned that EMT training is like a Pokemon evolving. When she finishes this class, she’ll be a Charmander. If she gets her EMT-Intermediate training, she’ll be a Charmeleon. Apparently, paramedics are the same as Charizards… in that they can fly and breathe fire, I guess. πŸ˜€

Fun walk with Jeff & Laura…although it was much hotter than I’d expected. Got my 10,000+ steps in for the day, at least!

Amy Poehler. I’m listening to her book, Yes, Please, right now. Super fun!

Appreciations 4.280 – comfort

What am I doing?Audio books! They’ve been such a comfort these past few months. Right now I’m listening to Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation. So many fascinating and interesting ideas. I’m going to have to listen to it several times. I like that this book caught my attention just now as I’m learning a new normal and finding my footing. I’m making little signs for myself to help me remember to be present and mindful. Good stuff.

Perfect timing. My dad needed a desk and I needed to get rid of one. Now my office has room for my keyboard… and I’m making progress on my Clear Everything Out of the Basement project. πŸ˜€

Another wonderful card Dennis! Thanks for the day-brightener, cousin! ❀IMG_4335

Unexpected giggles. After talking about our favorite (now out of print) books from childhood, David sent me a copy of one of his favorites. So funny! I learned a lot about the friendship between koalas and kangaroos, the dangers of grasshoppers, and the excitement presented when a pink airplane full of circus equipment falls from the sky. Hahahaha! πŸ˜€

The wisdom and wit of L M Montgomery’s Anne. Things like, “It’s delightful when your imaginations come true, isn’t it?” It surely is. πŸ˜€

My green onions seem to know there’s more daylight nowadays…. they’re sending up new shoots and are about 3 inches taller than they were just a few days ago! Holy growth spurt, Batman!

The misty jigsaw puzzle of ice breaking up on Lake Calhoun this morning. Beautiful.

Pie for Pi Day. Gluten-free and everything!

Luna, sleeping in her newly decorated box. πŸ™‚

Sarah, who always tells me about or reminds of books I should read…like Anne of Green Gables. I haven’t read it in sooooo long. What a great book! πŸ˜€

Productive work day – two more taskies done that I’d been putting off!

Big projects done around the house, too. Got all the books moved up from the basement and organized up here! Only I don’t know what happened to my complete works of Shakespeare. Did I really give it away during the last round of eliminations?!? Fascinating. Also finally got the guest bedroom set up.

The best part of the day, of course, was dinner and a fun visit with Debb! How nice (for me!) that she sometimes has to come up to the city to work. πŸ˜‰

Appreciations 4.43 – good sleep, new audio book, gift-giving fun

A really good night of sleep. Not sure what all the hubbub was earlier this week, but last night sure was a nice change of pace! πŸ™‚

Finding the BBC radio dramatisation of Wodehouse’s Joy in the Morning – with Richard Briers (from Good Neighbors) playing Wooster. Oh what fun! Doesn’t matter that I just finished this book. Richard Brier’s Bertie is spectacular. Oh, fun fun fun.

The glee I feel when assembling and wrapping a gift that is both very silly and sure to please its recipient. I love when things line up perfectly like that. πŸ˜€

The following sentence contains them all: β€œThe rough-coated, dough-faced, thoughtful ploughman strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a plough, he coughed and hiccoughed.”
