Me, doing my version of being a grownup. It involves lots of legos.

Sunshine, thunder, snow, wind. March is so funny!

Ha Ha HAA (aka Health Adventure Appreciations) πŸ˜ƒ

Katie and Cina, who once again drove me to and stayed with me at the hospital. They are so generous and funny and make these challenging situations as fun as they can possibly be. I am quite sure I laugh more than “normal” people in similar situations — and the girls play a big role in that!

Working with some of the most generous, delightful, funny, smart, caring nurses, docs, and other staff at the hospital. They really are an amazing group of people. (Though I’ve decided I need to go in every few weeks with cookies and visit them THAT way instead of being admitted….) πŸ˜›

The chance being in the hospital gave me to refine my MDFUN bingo cards. The nurses loved them and I learned so many interesting things about their lives and had so many fun conversations with them. One nurse even told us, “I was going to give you to another nurse, but I’m going to steal you!” We had so much goofy fun with her!

The sense of perspective my first night in the hospital gave me. That was a no-sleep night in a shared room with a woman who was having SUCH a rough time. I wished I could help her somehow. So did the nurses. Tough for everyone. πŸ™ Reminded me of how fortunate I am.

Fantastic view from my 2nd room (and the chance it gave me to get some rest!)! On Tuesday the skyline played hide-and-seek through the fog. Gorgeous. πŸ’™

My excellent stats in Tissue B-Ball (making shots across the room from the hospital bed). Final score on Monday was 30 shots made and 14 missed. (That may not sound like much, but YOU try throwing with either your non-dominant hand or an arm with an IV in it and see how well YOU do!) 😝

The lovely visits, calls, and texts from people while I was in the hospital. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful group of family and friends!

Pics and updates from Sarah. I am SUPER bummed to be missing our trip, but it sure is sweet to see Ida discovering sand and waves and geckos! πŸ’š

Feeling so much better after transfusions and IV iron. Holy moly, I’m glad these things are possible! I SUPER appreciate the people whose donated blood helped me SO much. I don’t get to donate b/c of my crazy low BP, but I super appreciate everyone who takes time to do this!!

Finding a legitimate reason to bark while in the hospital. Yes, my life is very, very good.

My salty πŸ˜‰ sister-in-law Laura who brought me ALL the gluten-free goodies French Meadow had to offer on Sunday, and then drove me home on Tuesday, and then picked up my meds and went grocery shopping for me. Did I mention how lucky I am??cheezy-flowers

Gorgeous flowers sent to me from my darling and thoughtful friends. We may live far apart, but we sure are in each others’ hearts. ❀️

Enough juice to get all the way around the block and soak up some sunshine! Thanks, Katie and Cina, for walking me. πŸ˜€

Now, having said all that, and just to be clear – I REALLY am willing to notice my good fortune every day WITHOUT some spectacular drama to bring it into focus. Srsly.

Appreciations 2/10-2/16: strength stone, bingo beta, morning meal magic, and D dinners

heart-strength

The beautiful Strength stone Ruby gave me. What a sweetie! And, yes, I will take all the added heart strength I can find. 😊

Toaster magic. TWICE the toaster has popped my toast up and INTO the other side!! I will try to catch this on video because it is AMAZING! (And made me absurdly happy the rest of the day – both times!)

The ongoing game of Stealth Dishwashing that Sarah and I are playing. What a fun roommate she is! πŸ’š

The latest version of my MDFUN Bingo cards. I’m loving the comments and suggestions from my beta testers!

Dinners with the Delaneys, the Duncans, and the daughters (well, daughter and her SO). πŸ˜‰ So lovely to spend time and share food with such wonderful people.

Sarah, the Cat Whisperer. Honestly, you just have to see this lady in action. She is amazing! 😸

Good results from my dad’s procedure yesterday. Hooray for good news!

Sunshine.

Appreciations 1/26-2/5: spilt milk, support, staying, silliness, and Scrabble!

Laughing over spilt milk… especially when Sarah, Ida, and I take turns, each spilling spectacularly once, in the same place, during the course of one weekend. Hahaha!

Spill Gremlins….the ones we’ve determined are responsible for the milk (and subsequent vegetable) spills. What a funny house we live in! πŸ˜†

Delicious dinner of fish and chips. Thank you for the treat, Sarah!

Ida dancing around the living room to the Ultimate Family Dance Party station while Sarah and I do some couch dancing. πŸ€—

My new yard sign and my neighborhood’s commitment to supporting ALL of its residents.

stand-with-our-neighbors

Ida’s new addition to the “Nana upstairs, too?” request. Now when I’m about to leave to go back upstairs she says, “Nana, stay!” Oh, how I love that kid!! πŸ’œ

This most awesome card from my cousin Debb. She is so thoughtful and funny!

i-need-a-crown

Antibiotics that do their job quickly and well. Plus the cessation of continual coughing! πŸ˜†

Dinner with the Terri, Ellis, Sara, Rochelle and all the kiddos. What bliss.

Playing Scrabble with my mom! πŸ’œ

Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Eva Ibbotson, E.L. Konigsburg, and Cornelia Funke, all of whom brighten my life with their words!

Holiday Appreciations

What a wonderful holiday weekend that was! I appreciate the opportunity to play games, talk, and share food with so many of my favorite people on the planet. 🌎 I even got to meet some new beautiful people. (Well, they’ve probably been beautiful people for a long time…but knowing them is new to me!) πŸ˜‰ My family (biological and chosen) and friends are the most funny, interesting, lovely people. I am profoundly grateful. πŸ’œ

I love the contrast of the intense hustle and bustle of Thursday and Friday’s gatherings…followed by two days of introvert recharge time with no specific plans, but lots of nice quiet time and chill small group hang out time. Perfect!

nov-27th-bday-giftsI super appreciate that somehow I got an extra birthday this year (this one, apparently, on Nov 27th)! 🎁 For some reason, I got three early birthday presents on Sunday. That was fun!!

How funny and strange to hear thunder and be caught in a downpour on my way to my eye appointment today. It is the end of November, right??15179029_10154729679213851_6021836303046596174_n

I also appreciate the fun of an eye exam (which I’d not had in, um, well, a LONG time). Interesting stuff! Plus…I got these super cool new sunglasses. #fashion #nailedit

The pure joy of getting to see Sarah and Ida every day. Srsly.

Appreciations 4.268 – wonderful

di-and-ida-may-2016Glorious visit with Sarah and Ida, plus getting see so many improv friends at today’s gathering. It had been a LONG time, so it was marvelous to catch up a little.❀

Spectacular weather. My favorite thing about MN is days like today!

Delightful dinner and errand-running with David. People have been so generous about driving me around town the past two months. I appreciate it SO much. Two down, one to go…

Gradually getting back to normal (well, asΒ “normal” as I’ve ever been πŸ˜‰ )Β Today I was able to be out socializing and running errands for over 5 hours — and only had one dizzy spell. Hooray!

Stretching my idiolect to include more words that mean wonderful. Today’s additions: glorious and marvelous. We’ll see if they stick.πŸ˜€

Appreciations 4.88

A day with plenty of energy. Yay! Enough to get some really good work work done, and some really good rehearsal prep work, and then to get through another excellent rehearsal! After yesterday (I crashed on the couch for the entire evening after rehearsal and yard work ), I was feeling a little discouraged…but then today, I had all the energy I needed. Even got the kitchen cleaned up. Hooray!

Singing. Oh, what fun it is when we get to this part of the season when most of us know most of our parts on most of the songs. πŸ˜› Peggy is so patient and wonderful. I am so happy to be singing with these fine ladies again. ❀

snail card 300x300More drawing fun. I like how pleased I am with myself…like a little kid. πŸ˜‰ I made a get well card with a snail on it for Pam who likes snails. It was so much fun to do!
