Year 1, Day 45: sound of trucks, meetings, no meetings

I appreciate:

  1. The sound of trucks rumbling and glass breaking in the alley. Minneapolis has a great recycling program!
  2. Yesterday’s day full of meetings – working with clients and meeting new people is fun!
  3. A morning with NO meetings. 😛 I love the quietness, and the chance to really focus on my work this morning.

Year 1, Day 44: Wilder’s ADC, birds, gratitude practice

I appreciate:

  1. Wilder Foundation’s Adult Day Care program, for making caring for my MIL so much easier.
  2. Birds. Huh, I didn’t even realize that. I love listening to the different bird songs in my neighborhood in the morning!
  3. This practice of gratitude – for helping me notice things that I didn’t even realize I appreciate. Cool. 🙂

Year 1, Day 43: cat company, purring, Siamese cats

I appreciate cats! I love:

  1. The way they sense when I’m feeling unwell or sad and saunter over for some petting — as if I’m doing them a favor, when really they’re offering ME comfort.
  2. Purring! I love the immediate sense of calm and comfort it evokes in me.
  3. The little kink in the end of Siamese cats’ tails. Luna has this trait. So did my first cat, Felix. 🙂

Year 1, Day 42: nearly-full moon, early workers, tears

I appreciate:

  1. The nearly-full moon shining high in the sky when we left the house this morning. Made getting up at 5:15 breathtaking rather than merely challenging! 😉
  2. The people who go to work so early every day… and make it possible for me to buy coffee at a pre-human hour.
  3. A tearful day that reminds me that most days are not tearful…and Show X for helping me end the day with tears of laughter. 🙂

Year 1, Day 40: Lake Harriet – cool cars, perfect walk, bird sanctuary

I appreciate Lake Harriet! Here’s why:

  1. It attracts a lot of interesting people, some of whom drive really interesting vehicles! (We were behind the car in the photo as we drove home this morning.)
  2. The walk around the lake is the perfect distance — and the lake itself is the perfect distance from my house. Or, maybe my house is the perfect distance from the lake… 😛
  3. Walking through the Bird Sanctuary is a little like walking through the woods…as long as you ignore the occasional airplane overhead. ;^)

Year 1, Day 39: fall skies, smells, leaves, colors

Today I appreciate fall.  Wanna know why?

  1. Warm, clear, blue-sky days that turn into cool , snuggle-under-the-covers nights.
  2. The smell smoke from people’s backyard fires.
  3. The crisp-crunchiness of fallen leaves when I walk on them.  Reminds me of the huge piles of leaves we jumped in as kids.
  4. The amazing array of colors…mums and asters blooming bright against the yellow/brown stalks of dying summer plants, leaves ranging from still green to yellow-orange-red to brown.  What a brilliant sight. 🙂

Year 1, Day 37: temperature, curiosity, progress

I appreciate:

The temperature of my house – and the fact that we can cool it off when it’s hot outside and warm it up when it’s cold! Obvious, but easy to take for granted.

Curiosity. I learn something new every day – including the fact that there are still so many things I want to learn about! 🙂

The progress we’ve made on the bathroom project – almost done putting the baseboard up, then just touch up painting on the walls and a final coat on the trim. So pretty. And light!
