Year 1, Day 120: sleep (usually), tiny world, friends

I appreciate:

  • The fact that I usually sleep more than 4 hours! Really, really, really appreciate that. Also that I have a warm house and comfortable bed to sleep in.
  • The truly bizarre way different part of my life are intersecting and criss-crossing these days. So many people connected from the past to the present, from one activity to another. Pretty freakin’ cool.
  • I deeply appreciate my generous, loving, supportive friends – both in town and far away. I know I am blessed beyond belief to be surrounded by such amazing people. ♥

Year 1, Day 119: Cimmy, frog, knowing, Kari, work, Suz

Today I appreciate:

  • My cat, Cimmy, for relentlessly walking around on my lap, my desk, and my keyboard, purring. “Hello,” she seems to say, “You have a large, purring cat who adores you. Things can’t be too bad.” Thanks for the reminder, Cimmy!
  • I also appreciate my little squishy froggy friend (one of the squishies I use for laughter yoga) who’s sitting on my desk, reminding me to laugh.
  • I appreciate knowing that what’s going on is just a state of mind and that it won’t last forever, that all will be well.
  • I also appreciate Kari’s gentle words of comfort and wisdom.
  • Oh, and the fact that I get to work with people I truly adore. That’s pretty cool.
  • Plus, a short but sweet text from Suzie.

Okay, things are already getting better. Breathe in, breathe out. Smile.

Year 1, Day 118: power of words and intention

I appreciate the power of words and intention. Yesterday I was a little overwhelmed and depressed and knew that it was just a matter of me focusing on unwanted things. (I knew this because nothing radical had changed in my life circumstances and just the day before I’d have a long string of utterly blissful moments!) So, I did a little laughing and a little appreciating to change my thoughts, but was still stuck in my little rut.  Then, one person unexpectedly (and without provocation!) said, “I love you.” And suddenly everything was right in my world and I spent the rest of the day savoring the time with my family.

I don’t think that dramatic a shift would have happened (so fast!) if I hadn’t been looking for a way to change my thoughts and focus on what I love. So, I am deeply grateful to my lovely daughter for her powerful words — and I give myself a little credit, too. 😉

All that being said, if you are reading this, know that I love and appreciate YOU. If you’re seeing this, it means our paths have crossed in some meaningful way and that your unique energy and spirit make my life and the world a better place. However your thoughts might be focused, know that you are good and that you are loved. Blessed be. ♥

Year 1, Day 117: stillness, being in the moment, Ellis concert, perfect night

I appreciate stillness, being in the moment, and loving the people around me.

  • Thank you, Ellis, for a deeply moving and uplifting show last night.
  • Thank you, Katie, for sharing that incredible Royalty to Me moment with me. It may have seemed like a small gesture to you, but that hug and our shared understanding will be a memory I carry with me always.
  • Thank you, Ryan, for being there with us. Katie picked a good one! 😛
  • Thank you, perfect timing, for the awesome connections from last night: Seeing Juniper Skye drummer Anna (who turns out to be my colleague’s partner!) after 5 years, and seeing Sara & meeting her honey! It really was a beautiful night. ♥

Year 1, Day 116: creamer, HUGE, improv

I appreciate:

  1. Coconut milk creamer. Makes my coffee so yummy – and doesn’t make me sick. ♥
  2. HUGE Theater for creating such a wonderful space for new improvisers to perform – including me! I both appreciate – and am terrified about – getting to try out my solo piece in next week’s Solo Showcase. (!!)
  3. Getting to play in a bunch of shows in the next round of IAGG. Really, I’m giddy like a little kid before Christmas. Oh – wait – it IS before Christmas. And I think we all agree that I’m pretty much always like a little kid….. 🙂

Year 1, Day 115: completing tasks, working washer, gmail theme

I appreciate:

  • How great it feels to complete a task that’s been on my to-do list for months! (Birthday cards sent today — for birthdays as far back as AUGUST.) 😛
  • Having a working washing machine again! Plus, the guys we worked with were friendly, accommodating, and charged us fairly.
  • My new gmail theme. It’s purdy! I also love that I get to work at home and hang out with my girl in between tasks!

Year 1, Day 114: triple 12, home from driving, nice drive and a donkey, snowdrifts

I appreciate:

  • That it’s 12/12/12!
  • That I am back home (with Katie!!) after driving all day. 🙂 I also appreciate that despite getting back to town at rush hour, it only added an extra 20 minutes to the trip total. Phew.
  • That it was warm and sunny today so the roads were pretty clear. Oh, and it was really nice weather for driving. OH – and I saw a donkey on the way to Morris, which reminded me of Show X on Monday (ask Andrew Zimmern about donkey if you’re curious).
  • The spectacularly beautiful snowdrifts along Hwy 28.

Year 1, Day 113: crabbiness brings gratefulness

I’m crabby today, so it’s especially helpful/challenging 😉 to figure out what I appreciate right now. Let’s see… I appreciate:

  • The intrepid travelers who braved the icy roads to come to Laughter Yoga last night and the fun of leading the group (thanks, Jody! Hope you got some sleep!)
  • The awesome show with Andrew Zimmern at HUGE Theater last night.
  • The warmth of my house.
  • The comfort of seeing the kitties and Gracie all snuggled up sleeping in the living room.
  • The generous, caring staff at Wilder who were at today’s meeting and the fact that MIL care is going pretty well for now.
  • The fact that I can once again see the FLOOR in my office (still a long way to go, but at least I can find my desk and actually work there….)
  • The sounds and smells coming from the kitchen, which indicate that Pat is making the Best. Fried. Potatoes. Ever — and knowing he will share them with me. 🙂
  • The fact that we get Katie home again tomorrow. Oh! That’s a good one. Having the whole family around for a month is going to be wonderful. Deep breath of contentment. Yup. Now I can get back to work.

Year 1, Day 111: lovely day, breakfast and improv, shoveling, cleaning, coziness

I appreciate:

  1. The loveliness of today. It was so beautiful at the lake this morning with the snow falling and a dense mist over the whole lake. Breathtaking!
  2. Breakfast at Zumbro was delicious, then rehearsal with the Urbane Gorillas was fun and productive.
  3. Shoveling made me feel victorious 🙂 and now cleaning my office before settling down for a cozy night with my hubby. I have a blessed life. I deeply appreciate my great good fortune.♥

Year 1, Day 110: a bit of bitwordy

I appreciate:

  1. My Bitwordy friends! It’s been interesting to meet these amazing people from all over the world. Not only are they word-geeks like me 🙂 But they are super smart, funny, and sweet!
  2. My dream this morning in which I was playing Bitwordy and found optic, myopic, biopic, topic, and tropic and was super happy. So fun to be a geek! LOL.
  3. All the goofy holiday avatars my Bitwordy friends are using right now. ♥
