Appreciations 4.217

Tin man 2016My new Tin Man and his awesome heart. πŸ˜€ Thank you for the funny, sweet gift, Debb. It made me giggle. I love him!

Unbelievable love, comfort, and support from the kids last night when a dizzy spell that felt like the beginning of a faint (which is how last week’s events began) triggered my first ever panic attack. It is a strange and scary thing to have your body doing fight or flight things even after you’ve calmed your thoughts. We got my dizziness, chills and violent shaking under control after about an hour or so, thanks to their good suggestions and all the blankets and all the pillows and all the heating pads. Since I’d never experienced anything like this, even after everything settled down, I was a little scared of having another one… so we decided to play catch with a cat toy that was nearby as a way to keep me distracted…and both of the cats joined in. Everybody was helping me! For any of you who deal with this kind of thing on a regular basis, I am sending you so much love. So much love.

Monet Mar 2016Getting my Monet poster framed and hung at last. I love it so much.

Appreciations 4.216 – all the feelings

All the feelings. Wow. I guessed it must be coming after last weekend’s excitement. Through the fog of those 36 hours without sleep and feeling just So. Not. Right. while my heart was in a-fib, I somehow felt surprisingly calm and happy to joke with the nurses and staff. My smart little brain gave me a buffer so I could deal with what was happening at the moment. It let me detach from everything until I got home and started to feel a little better β€” and then whoosh…ALL the feelings! I’m so grateful Katie and Cina were here for all the crying and the way-after-the-fact anxiety and fear. Those were some VERY good hugs they gave me. ❀❀❀ It’s a good thing to feel all the feelings. The contrast makes for such a rich experience of the world. I will say, however, that I don’t MIND long stretches of monotonous joy. πŸ˜‰

My apparently badass appearance now that the bruise on my forehead is changing colors. Ha!

Sunshine outside my window and time for healing and recovering.

appetite-1239161_640Cina’s silliness! Looking over my shoulder at my appreciation spreadsheet, she pointed out that I went from being grateful for raw asparagus to being grateful for being alive. It’s true. I am glad to be alive. I also still like raw asparagus, though.

Appreciations 4.215 – Home, sweet home

Sleeping in my own bed – no IVs, no oxygen tubes, no BP cuff, nobody waking me up to draw blood at 3 am. Woohoo! I mean, I am totally grateful they had all those hoses and medications and that they did all the tests….I just don’t miss it. πŸ˜‰

IMG_41673 am snuggles with Luna kitty. She seems to be glad I’m home. ❀ I’m glad, too! πŸ˜€

Sweet little visit with Alison, who brought grilled veggies and fruit salad to round out the week’s meals. So nice to catch up with my funny friend!! πŸ™‚

(today!) Waking up in my own bed. Such luxury!

Sitting on the couch watching birds flit from branch to branch on the tree outside the window. Listening to bird songs and looking out at a beautiful and sunny day.

Katie and Cina, for staying with me for a few days while I get back on my feet. Literally… πŸ˜›

flowers 2016Pretty flowers and plants and cards, oh my! Thank you Laura & Jeff, Sarah, Ruby, and my wonderful Cheezeball friends!

Nap nap nap nappity-naps. How funny to be waking and sleeping in this off-kilter way.

My mom & dad for dropping off a shower chair this morning.

Taking. A. Shower!!!!!!!!!!!!! Srsly. So good. πŸ˜€

Appreciations 4.213

(from 3/21) I am so grateful for my email-typing, text-managing, phone-call making, amazingly supportive Katie! And her spectacular partner in crime, Cina.

Getting to go home and Sleep. In. My. Own. Bed!!

Laura, who met us at the door with dinner…for at least a week! Holy moly what a scrumptious smorgasbord!! ❀❀❀

Sara for jumping right in and taking over Skynote work so I can rest. What a rockstar!!

Appreciations 4.211 – being alive!

(from 3/19) The diligent, delightful, and darling staff in the ER and cardiac unit at the hospital. Together we did important work, and somehow had so much fun. ❀❀❀

Terri & Ellis, Sarah, Jeff & Laura, Sara, and my mom and dad (who came to the hospital at 2 am!) for their unflagging love and support, and all the big and small acts of kindness. ❀❀❀

Katie, Cina, and Mckenzie for staying with me the whole night (they left the hospital at 6 am after I’d been admitted!), and for being so incredibly reassuring, funny, and supportive. ❀❀❀

Appreciations 4.210 – being alive!

mood ring(From 3/18) The awesome mood ring Katie and Cina bought for me. It even has my name so I will remember who I am. πŸ™‚

Super fun day with the kids including delicious breakfast, fun shopping at IKEA and movie night.

Being alive! When my heart went into v-fib (which caused cardiac arrest), my ICD came to the rescue and shocked me back to life! And then when my heart decided to try out a-fib and my heart rate spiked at 230, the ICD sprang to the rescue again. I am so grateful for this device. I am also so grateful for the lightning-fast ambulance response and the amazing EMTs, doctors, lab techs and everyone else who helped us through that night.

Fabulous meeting with Sara at Shish yesterday – so productive and fun! Delicious food, great service, and the most hilarious music from long ago. Sara said we must’ve been listening to the Forgotten Music Station. I felt like I was 10 years old and had to keep reminding myself that we were having a meeting and it wasn’t time to dance. πŸ˜€

Another awesome meeting with John this morning – more good work peppered with sweetness and fun. I like my job!

Finishing the kitchen backsplash project. Yippee! It looked so fresh and pretty when it was done, but before all the stuff was back. Still looks pretty good, though. πŸ˜‰

Appreciations 4.208

The fun of running errands in pouring rain last night. Our first really rainy day of the season. How lovely to be out in it for a bit!

Finally getting some work done on the kitchen backsplash project. Hooray! It’s been in its unfinished state for sooooo long. What a relief to finally be getting it spruced up!

Remembering more sweet details of my visit with Sarah last weekend: truly gorgeous wind chimes – beautifully deep and sonorous, but somehow soft and vibrant, too; the sweet golden retriever puppy trotting up to the fence to say hello, tail awag and nuzzling our hands for petting; Ida, happily sitting on the sidewalk, taking things out of my purse one by one and handing them to me or Sarah. πŸ’—
