My 4 AM Odyssey

On the one hand, I did wake up at 4:15.

On the other hand, I have already
• made my bed
• swept the floors
• done laundry
• reached inbox 0
• written a poem
• researched new recipes
• updated a spreadsheet
• sent any number of emails with any number of emojis
• cracked myself up
• dubbed myself Queen of Emojis
• pet the cats
• consumed coffee

So.

Appreciations 5/4-5/8: Sunshine and shadows. ⛅️

Spending time with Debb two days in a row! Though I’m sorry for HER that she has to travel back and forth so much…I am super happy for ME when I get to see her. 😉

Delicious and amazing May Day brunch with the the Duncans, and the Delaneys and their neighbors. What lovely people! 💜

Getting some stuff done, rescheduling some stuff, resting some. I may be a slow learner…but I AM getting better at listening to my body. Progress! 🌸

Funtastic weekend with the fabulous Duncans and Mckenzie. Just lots of nice little moments, hilarity (dammit!), and fun.

Supremely gorgeous blooms-everywhere-pre-insect-bites weather. Minnesota at its very best! Yum.

Window art at my house — I love the process of making art, erasing art, making new art. So much fun!

Sunlight and shadows playing with our window art. Brilliant!

Magic

Being human is a form of magic, I think. These wise and beautiful words from Patricia Wrede‘s Thirteenth Child seem more important today than ever.

“This is the most important lesson you must learn about magic…There are many ways of seeing. Each has an element of truth, but none is the whole truth. If you limit yourselves to one way of seeing, one truth, you will limit your power…To be a good magician, you must see in many ways. You must be flexible. You must be willing to learn from different sources. And you must always remember that the truths you see are incomplete.”

Appreciations 5/3: My job!

Birdsong and a view of the rising sun from my desk.

7:04 am, 0 emails in my inbox and fewer than 10 in my action folder.

Looking forward to working on fun accounts with truly lovely clients. ❤️

Appreciations 4/24-4/28: 5, 10,000, 0, 4, 2, 8, 28, 406

5 good energy days in a row. 10,000+ steps & work & household stuff!

Being self-employed so when the 0 energy days hit, it’s not such a big deal. 😉

Epic series of 4 errands that includes…
• Stopping to a get a couple things at 2 different stores — and EVERYTHING on the list is on sale.

• Coffee

• Supremely fun and entertaining interaction with barista (who laughs at my puns AND tells me I’m so cute!)

• This license plate – CRE8JOY 💜

• Utterly delightful conversations with check out clerks – complete with laughter and a real sense of connection.

• People who go above and beyond.

Day 28 of downsizing… more than 406 unnecessary items removed from the household so far! Pretty soon I will be surrounded only by things I need, use, or love! Next month is for computer desktop cleanup by the same method. June will be cyber clean up month. Thank you, Alison for your brilliant inspiration!

Appreciations 4/18-4/23: Yes.

Wonderful birthday visit with my darling Pamela. It is always such a delight to spend time with her! 💜

Fantastic zoo day with the Duncans! The animals were so lively and engaging. I felt like they were stopping by specifically to say “hi” to us. I let them know how much I appreciate them for letting us know them a little as we watch and learn about them. Plus, Sarah and Ida were just so so so so so much fun to spend the day with! 💚

More gorgeous weather on Saturday. Clocked in over 11,000 steps! Yay, heart! Way to keep on keepin’ on!! ❤️

Working with Sarah on Seriously Happy plans. We made good progress and I just have to say, I am SO excited about what we have coming up!! 💛 (If you want to be in the loop, you can sign up for our newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/o5a9D)

Bubbles.

My wonderful GI doc who is not only thoughtful and funny, but who is also willing to take time to explain stuff — even science-y stuff that piques my interest but is only tangentially related to my story. 😉

Walking outside!!
