Appreciations 4.210 – being alive!

mood ring(From 3/18) The awesome mood ring Katie and Cina bought for me. It even has my name so I will remember who I am. 🙂

Super fun day with the kids including delicious breakfast, fun shopping at IKEA and movie night.

Being alive! When my heart went into v-fib (which caused cardiac arrest), my ICD came to the rescue and shocked me back to life! And then when my heart decided to try out a-fib and my heart rate spiked at 230, the ICD sprang to the rescue again. I am so grateful for this device. I am also so grateful for the lightning-fast ambulance response and the amazing EMTs, doctors, lab techs and everyone else who helped us through that night.

Fabulous meeting with Sara at Shish yesterday – so productive and fun! Delicious food, great service, and the most hilarious music from long ago. Sara said we must’ve been listening to the Forgotten Music Station. I felt like I was 10 years old and had to keep reminding myself that we were having a meeting and it wasn’t time to dance. 😀

Another awesome meeting with John this morning – more good work peppered with sweetness and fun. I like my job!

Finishing the kitchen backsplash project. Yippee! It looked so fresh and pretty when it was done, but before all the stuff was back. Still looks pretty good, though. 😉

The fun of running errands in pouring rain last night. Our first really rainy day of the season. How lovely to be out in it for a bit!

Finally getting some work done on the kitchen backsplash project. Hooray! It’s been in its unfinished state for sooooo long. What a relief to finally be getting it spruced up!

Remembering more sweet details of my visit with Sarah last weekend: truly gorgeous wind chimes – beautifully deep and sonorous, but somehow soft and vibrant, too; the sweet golden retriever puppy trotting up to the fence to say hello, tail awag and nuzzling our hands for petting; Ida, happily sitting on the sidewalk, taking things out of my purse one by one and handing them to me or Sarah. 💗

The wisdom and wit of L M Montgomery’s Anne. Things like, “It’s delightful when your imaginations come true, isn’t it?” It surely is. 😀

My green onions seem to know there’s more daylight nowadays…. they’re sending up new shoots and are about 3 inches taller than they were just a few days ago! Holy growth spurt, Batman!

Appreciations 4.205 – little things

The joy of little things. Like the deepening sherbet colors of the sky as Terri & I drove to the play last night, the whisper of Luna’s whiskers on my face when she cuddles absurdly close, the sound of a little kid squealing as she runs down the street. What a gift it is to have senses and to take in and notice these little things. 💗

Friends who say brilliant and beautiful things like, “Look at the sky! It looks like sherbet!” and who share my joy of little things. 🙂

The funny off-kilter feeling of today’s time change – both because of the change itself and because I still haven’t changed ALL the clocks, so time goes back and forth a little depending on what room I’m in. Hahaha!

The goofy word games and stories Mckenzie and I make up when we’re doing errands.

Deeply delightful visit with Sarah and Ida this morning. What a gorgeous morning for a walk! So so so great to reconnect with kindred spirits. 😀

Truly entertaining evening with Terri seeing Legally Blond at Washburn HS. So much fun on so many levels!

Appreciations 4.203 – brilliant walks

Glorious walks the past couple days! Made my first trek down to the lake this year yesterday…and on my way, saw my first butterfly and my first bud. Brilliant!

I was out at a different time of the day and took completely different routes the past two days, but on both days I was walking past a pair of dogs as they howled with sirens in the distance. In all my years of walking in this neighborhood, that’s never happened before. Now…. two days in a row!

I love how protean the city is. My walk a few days ago was punctuated by quietness. Today’s walk was filled with all the sounds of the city – airplanes, cars, sirens, dogs, people talking, kids playing. So much hustle and bustle.

Thesauri – both the word and the item. I didn’t actually know the word protean before today…and now I do. 😉

Appreciations 4.202 – Fun

Waking up after a delightful dream in which Pam and I were shopping at someone’s moving sale (in their house) and finding all sorts hidden treasures in nooks and crannies like beautiful tapestries and clever and funny cat toys and books we’d always wanted to read but had never been able to find. SO much fun in the dream, and so like spending time with Pam – always seeking and finding hidden beauty, fun, and joy! 💗

Qigong. It’s not yet a daily habit, but I’m getting better about remembering to do it and am still astonished by how profoundly even one session improves my sleep. Wowsers.

FunLooking forward to fun plans this weekend, planning new fun plans, and listening to all the fun new books I just reserved. 😀

Springtime (fine – early pre-springtime!) Luna. She makes a whole new set of sounds this time of year. I wouldn’t know that, except that last year’s appreciation for this day mentions it — and she just started up again a couple days ago. Fascinating!

Heating pads. So helpful after a night during which I’ve slept in a goofy position and when I wake up my back is like, “Dude, WTH?”  Yes, my back calls me dude. 😛

Apples and avocados. Not together, necessarily. Just more things that are delicious to eat raw.
