Appreciations March 26th: Shelter-in-place day 13 (Cannon balls and hot springs don’t mix)

Here is today’s round of goodness.

Playing pretend with Ida. We are the superhero team Aquamarine (me) and the Horse (Ida). Fortunately, all the villains in the world (our next mission per the president of superhero high) were all eating. It was lunch o’clock. AND we were joined by our faithful sideback, Luna. Phew! 😊

Rubber band that just happens to fall in a treble-cleffy sort of way.

Playing Catan with the family.

Sitting here typing this list and listening to Ida sing a song whose refrain is: “Cannon balls and hot springs don’t mix!”Β

Appreciations March 23rd: Shelter-in-place day 10

I didn’t post yesterday because it was my turn to be sad and scared and cry and stare at the wall for awhile. You get to do that, too, if you want or need to.

Today I’m okay again, so will post some goodies that keep me going. Sending love out to you all. This is a weird and scary time and we need all the kindness, care, and consideration we can get. And give. β€οΈ

Here are a few things I appreciate from the past couple days.
β€’ Yesterday’s “Chalk Walk” and leaving messages of love and encouragement as we walked.

β€’ Playing pretty much ALL the games with Ida while her mom was in a meeting.

β€’ FaceTime walk with Ellis. Staying connected even though we’re miles apart. πŸ˜„

β€’ Katie and Cina’s generous delivery service…Target order, co-op (we were out of fruit!!) AND coffee.

β€’ Socially distanced walk wherein the girls did all the complicated backward walking so we could easily talk. So good to stay connected and safe at the same time. πŸ’š

β€’ Talking with my folks… I am so proud of them for learning to use FaceTime!!

March 17th: Shelter-in-place day 4

Despite the fact that my appreciation neural pathways are extremely well-developed, I am (unsurprisingly) experiencing lots more anxiety, scarcity, and catastrophizing thoughts these days

It’s valid to be scared and anxious right now. Our brains do NOT like uncertainty and we are facing lots of that.

So in an effort to give my brain some help balancing things, I’ve decided to go back to posting appreciations for a bit.

So for today….Appreciations of home life. I mean really really we-are-all-here-all-the-time home life. πŸ˜†

Teeny-tiny egg from our girls who are increasing egg production again

Morning yoga with egg!

Comprehensive backyard/garden plan (thank you, Sarah!)

Updated coop plans and nearly finished kitchen painting (thank you, Mckenzie)

Newly organized hall closet (thank you, me). You have no frame of reference, but before the cleaning, there was about 30% chance of finding what you wanted and a 50% chance of having something fall on your head.

Lots of time to play the new game Melanie taught us! πŸ˜Š

Seasonal face painting featuring a blizzard, a thunder storm, and a sunny day.

Day 364: Sara, inspiration, Nico

I appreciate:

  • Getting to spend some time with Sara Maddy Olson today. I am so lucky to be friends with the loveliest people on the planet (one of whom is, of course, Sara).
  • Being inspired to make gluten-free, raspberry-filled muffins (never visit a new mom without bringing something!) Some for us, some for Sara & her family.
  • Getting to meet (and hold!) Nico today. Oh what a love!
