Year 1, Day 39: fall skies, smells, leaves, colors

Today I appreciate fall.  Wanna know why?

  1. Warm, clear, blue-sky days that turn into cool , snuggle-under-the-covers nights.
  2. The smell smoke from people’s backyard fires.
  3. The crisp-crunchiness of fallen leaves when I walk on them.  Reminds me of the huge piles of leaves we jumped in as kids.
  4. The amazing array of colors…mums and asters blooming bright against the yellow/brown stalks of dying summer plants, leaves ranging from still green to yellow-orange-red to brown.  What a brilliant sight. 🙂

Year 1, Day 37: temperature, curiosity, progress

I appreciate:

The temperature of my house – and the fact that we can cool it off when it’s hot outside and warm it up when it’s cold! Obvious, but easy to take for granted.

Curiosity. I learn something new every day – including the fact that there are still so many things I want to learn about! 🙂

The progress we’ve made on the bathroom project – almost done putting the baseboard up, then just touch up painting on the walls and a final coat on the trim. So pretty. And light!

Year 1, Day 36: smooth roads, blue sky, Mary

I appreciate:

  1. The new smoothness of Park Avenue — and the people who do that work! I love driving on well-paved roads, but would NOT want to do the work. Thank you road workers!
  2. The sharp blueness of the sky this morning. I know we could use some rain, but the sky against the turning leaves is breathtaking and I’m loving it.
  3. My friend and fellow Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, Mary, who got the wheels turning for us to teach laughter yoga for the MS Society. Can’t wait to start!

Year 1, Day 34: improv show, fun breakfast, fun brunch

I appreciate:

  1. Yesterday’s fantastic show at Comedy Sportz – brilliant!
  2. Today’s hilarious and fun family breakfast with my brothers and our families. The idea of Jeff in that t-shirt…..Oh hahahaha!
  3. My delightful late-morning brunch with T & R — plus Katie! Oh, so good for my heart. (Plus, Terri makes THE BEST gluten-free pancakes ever!) Wow!

Year 1, Day 32: arms – bending, reaching, hugging

I appreciate my arms:

  1. For being willing to bend and stretch if I should be in a yoga-ish or stretchy-ish mood
  2. For being able to reach up and help me get things off the top shelf. If I stand on my tippy-toes. Or a big chair. Or a giant.
  3. For being able to reach out and hug my kids and friends and family. ♥ Not all at once. They’re not THAT long. 😛

Year 1, Day 31: nervous systems – somatic, autonomic, sympathetic

More body appreciation…I appreciate:

  1. My somatic nervous system for helping me move when the spirit says move, dance when the spirit says dance ♫•*¨*•.¸¸♥ ¸¸.• ♪♫….
  2. My autonomic nervous system, for taking care of all that stuff required to, you know, continue living… including my my parasympathetic nervous system for taking care of everything when there’s no emergency, and
  3. My sympathetic nervous system for making fight or flight possible (you know, for when I encounter my next super villain!)

Year 1, Day 30: ears, ears, ears

Ears! Three separate reasons I appreciate my ears

  1. I love being able to hear my favorite musicians sing, the soft sound of my old kitty snoring, the wind in the trees, an audience laughing, the early-morning, dark-still clock ticking.
  2. I love having a place to hang my glasses
  3. I love to decorate ’em — and how the decorations make me feel connected to my family: I got my latest pierce when Katie was getting a new pierce (you know, your average mother-daughter outing….), and the diamond stud is my mom’s (she lost the other and gave this one to me). Thank you ears! ♥
