Appreciations 4.72 – the Halloween Edition

The perfectly fitting surreal quality of the day after a night of insomnia…everything seems a little strange, a little off, a little spooky…

Getting done with work in time to carve pumpkins before it was no longer Halloween. 😛

halloween 2015Another wonderful Halloween with the Duncan girls! Delicious dinner and so much fun watching Ida do stuff. Everything is a game at that age! I keep trying to get a photo of her but she’s a blurry flurry of activity these days. I have lots of pics of blur. 😉 At least all our pumpkins stayed still long enough for a group photo. 😀

recycling decades of paperThe absolutely delicious feeling of recycling decades worth of unneeded stuff. Today’s stuff: papers. I said goodbye to page after page of old lists, meeting and design notes (soooo many hex colors with no other notation – like THAT would somehow be helpful at some point!), and college papers I will never read again. Why did I still have all that stuff?!?! Hello suddenly bigger office… 😉

The awesome treasures I unearthed in the downsizing process, like writing from when the kids were little, a couple novels I started and forgot about (!), and very important notes from a meeting with Sara. Which I am keeping. 😀 Sara meeting notes

The adorable little pumpkin in a pumpkin costume at the grocery store today. So. Cute. ❤

Lovely meeting with the folks at my parents’ residence — looking forward to doing some fun shows out there!

Getting to spend the whole afternoon and evening with Katie! Feels like such a treat! ❤

book light 10:15My super clever book light solution – balancing my phone in my glasses case with the flashlight on. Genius, right?! 😛

mountain o sugargluten free fritter

The highly improbable amount of happiness I get from things like this powdered sugar mountain that happened when I sifted it. 😛

Gluten-free apple fritters. OMG I am so happy I found this recipe and now I am going to eat apple fritters every day forever and ever.

Being outside for the first few flakes of SNOW! I’ve been loving this long, luxurious autumn (and hope it continues for awhile longer), but there is something deliciously exciting about those first snowflakes. 😀

Zucchini.

Taking the extra 10 or 15 minutes to take the long way home…along the river. The vibrant leaves seemed to glow against the steely gray sky. I love the gorgeous views all around the cities. Every season seems to fill me with awe. And it makes for such nice drives!

Katie’s awesome owl-pumpkin, which inspired my awesome daily doodle. Which i just decided is a thing. 😉

Apples.

Nice visit with my brother Jeff today. Still trying to get my mind around the fact that soon we will live in the same state – less than 15 minutes away from each other. What?!?

purple couchMy comfy comfy couch. There are days where it is just the thing. 😉

Adam’s sweet idea to ask people to post their favorite photo on his timeline for his birthday. So much fun for birthday wishers and wishee alike. Wishee? Sure. I’m gonna say that’s a word.

Resting when resting is needed.

Luna kittyPurring cats to aid in said resting.

Mustering enough energy to go out and pick up my prescription and being rewarded by seeing 2 cars next to each other in the parking lot with the same letters on them. Okay. Well, it was cooler than it sounds. 😉

A lovely, Delaney-ful day, nicely bookended by a morning visit and an evening concert. 😀

Sitting under the table coloring with Ruby (well, my job was primarily to make sure Katie and Cina didn’t see the work in progress…). 😉

Presents from RubyPink polka dot presents from Ruby!

A little time with the kids today. I sure am one lucky mama. ❤

Waking up grumpy and thinking, “Huh. That’s weird. I wonder why I’m grumpy. Oh, well. I’m sure I won’t be after a while.” Nice to know that moods are just moods and that there’s no real need to “fix” anything when new moods show up. 😉

Ooooooh what a downpour this morning. And now my lawn is covered in glistening, bright yellow elm leaves from my neighbor’s tree. How pretty!

rose quartz oct 2015Rose quartz. I have rocks of various kinds all over the house, but I especially love this big piece of rose quartz that sits on my desk and keeps me company while I work. 🙂

fall tree and sun 4Um, guys…have you seen this weather?! Love love love the colors, the warmth, the sunshine!

Amazing day for a walk up to the coffee shop with Alison. Thanks for the coffee and the super fun conversation, Alison. It was so great to reconnect! 😀

The wonderful people at the UMP Heart Clinic. Appointments are always so easy and fun. Amy always seems to remember my whole story (not just the medical stuff!) and is so supportive and accommodating, and does such a good job listening. I love having excellent care providers like her!

I appreciate the fact that I am running out of new adjectives to describe the beautiful parts of my life. How many times have I used these words this year: amazing, fun, beautiful, wonderful, delightful, fantastic, great, awesome, marvelous, magnificent, splendid, breathtaking, excellent, superb, stunning. It is a wonder to me how very bright and shiny my life is. ❤
