Appreciations Year Three: Day 182

Visible progress on the Eagan house. Laundry room completely cleared out and cleaned, most of the downstairs rooms cleared and ready to go. Working our way up!!

This excellent opportunity to help and support my parents after all the help and support they’ve given me. ❀

Unexpected treasures uncovered during the moving process – like the box of my gramma and grampa’s letters and drawings that I get to look through when I have time.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 181

The sublime pleasure of hanging out with beautiful Jane during Show X last night. What a darling human being. What an excellent show. ❀

This morning’s sunny sunny sunshine. I feel so happy whenever I see the sun these days.

The very silly things that happen during a move… like sitting down to dinner with my folks at the new place and realizing my mom needed a coaster for her drink…only to have her pull one out of her pocket! Hahaha! She’d found it when we were packing, but we’d already packed up the others, so she shoved the lonely coaster in her pocket. Very handy. πŸ˜‰

Coming home from helping my folks all day to find my own home had been mysteriously cleaned. Sooooo happy Mckenzie was looking for a way to put off homework today… and that this was they way he found to do it!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 180 – the geek edition (as if there’s only one of these!)

This cat purr noise generator site. Seriously, so much fun — and surprisingly calming to run in the background during the work day.

The thrill of adding new code to the JavaScript file using the Chrome Dev Ed and committing the changes and pushing them to my GitHub repo so Dave can see them.Β ALL ON MY OWN. See me learning fancy new stuff?! Fancy new IMPORTANT stuff. How else would I come up with the idea for a story about a “remarkably unremarkable scullery maid who must tame the fierce dragon Kolwandon to liberate Prince Darling”? πŸ˜›

Pretty snow – light and fluffy and not so much that it causes problems. πŸ™‚

Appreciations Year Three: Day 179

Staying up too late (shocking, right?!) working on a story generating site with Dave. We just started, but it encompasses all the nerdy stuff. So far, my favorite one is, “The story is about a reclusive but clever tuna thief who must enchant a terrible ogre to open the gates to a shiny new Australia.” It’s not hosted anywhere yet, but will be. πŸ˜‰

Today’s house cooling party (according to my dad) at the Eagan house. So much fun to see everyone again!

Debb’s sweet and unexpected gift. ❀

Appreciations Year Three: Day 178

The fun of finding Katie’s glasses which had been missing for 6 months or more. Here’s to cleaning out beneath the couch cushions… πŸ˜‰

Lint rollers for removing the ever-present cat hair from my clothes, thereby concealing my crazy cat lady identity for at least a few minutes when I meet someone new. πŸ˜›

Taking a half-day off after doing just a little work. So good to relax and do nothing for a little bit.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 177 – The Book Edition

unsocial socialisthappy princeAnother excellent trip to Half Price Books! I love discovering books I haven’t read by authors I love. Last time I found a copy of George Bernard Shaw’s An Unsocial Socialist. This time I scored a copy of The Happy Prince and Other Stories by Oscar Wilde.

All aspects of reading… the pleasure of during, the fun of remembering when I’m done, and the anticipation before I start a new book.

Remembering the pure bliss of going to the library or filling out a Scholastic Books order form in grade school. πŸ™‚

Appreciations Year Three: Day 176

How balmy today felt without that darn wind blowing like crazy. Okay, balmy might be something of an exaggeration…. πŸ˜‰

Super productive day at the Eagan house AND the Apple Valley house. We are making good progress on this move!

Sarah, who knows all the fun stuff and shares it with me — like this Fairy Tale Plot Generator we can use for rehearsals.

princess-and-birdsThis awesome plot it generated for me tonight:
The story is about a brave princess who must leave home, find a magic ring, and save a prince to overcome three challenges. Things are complicated by the villain kidnapping the main character’s brother. Assistance comes in the form of friendly birds.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 175

When I stepped onto that snow-covered patch of invisible ice and slipped, I did NOT fall. Thank you, balance and lightning-quick reflexes. πŸ˜‰

The super awesome amazingly fun night out with Lisa and Alison. Delicious beer and food and OMG the fun we had at Eastlake Brewery! Always invent a game. Plus, Extra special bonus to get to see Sara and Rochelle! ❀

Being indoors when the windchill is -21ΒΊ.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 174

All the coffees of all kinds whenever possible. πŸ˜‰

Google hangouts — for making it possible to do my meetings virtually today so I didn’t have to brave the sleet and snow!

Pencil_tip_closeup_2

Pens and pencils. We may need them less than we used to, but I’m still a fan. πŸ™‚

Appreciations Year Three: Day 173

The hilarious randomness of the sound track my mind generates. In the middle of the night, it was the theme song from Dr. Who (makes sense – I just watched Dr. Who), but then upon waking this morning, it was Sebben Crudele which I’ve neither sung nor listened to in ages. Where did that come from?! So funny!

Cool, delicious water whenever I want it. What a wonderful, amazing gift.

The fact that putting off one task can often mean getting something else done that’s been on the list for a long time. My tidy, re-organized office looks great. And hey, I got around to those other tasks….eventually. πŸ™‚
