Appreciations Year Three: Day 142 (more marker amusement)

Learning to be happy with little mini-projects instead of being frustrated that the big project is incomplete.

Knowing when it was time to take a break from work to tidy up the office and make it more inviting… for me AND the kitties!

The thrill of getting a surprise gift for no special reason, and then the fun of knowing that after work I’d get to play with my new toys. Thanks, DH. You made my day!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 141 (the vortex edition)

sparkle love

The adventure of going out to grocery shop with the wind whipping snow into sparkly vortices (or vortexes if you prefer) all around.

The triumphant and comforting return to a tidy kitchen and a warm house!

My sweet girl, who knows the best way to coax a smile from her discouraged and tired mama. (Hint: it involves hastily written sweet words and sparkles.) β™₯

A day that turns itself around, hokey-pokey like.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 140

Beautiful gifts from Singapore from my beautiful friend, Kat!

What a lovely surprise!

The absurdity of weather so cold it requires the wearing of two sweaters and a scarf…. indoors!

The supremely fun Improvised Jane Austen auditions tonight. What a wonderful group I got to play with and what fun we had playing pretend!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 139 (the wordpress trial edition)

Hahaha! Reading last year’s appreciations for this day makes me really appreciate that it is NOT -20ΒΊ with a -43ΒΊ windchill. Today’s comparatively balmy 1ΒΊ temp is welcome. Plus sunshine!

These cool pens. I don’t own them yet, but just knowing they exist makes me happy! Chameleon Color Tones Pens

Sensory stuff: sunshine sparkling on the snow, the sound of the furnace keeping me warm, the smell and taste of my morning coffee, the smooth feel of the keys as I type.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 138

Gluten-free pretzels and hummus. What a satisfying dinner, er, snack. πŸ˜‰

pattison tshirts

Katie’s t-shirt folding and organizing expertise — and her willingness to help me figure out a much, much better way to store the t-shirt inventory. So happy about this.

Sweater plus sweater and socks plus slippers. Helps me feel, well, at least a little less cold!

Appreciations Year Three: Days 136 & 137 (the Tiny Funny Women Fest edition)

Day 136

Working with Lauren Anderson. Every time I work with her I am blown away by her insightful, holistic, beautiful approach to improv and to life. I come away feeling so inspired — about both things!

TFWF 2015The new form Lauren is sharing with us. It is so freaking awesome. I cannot WAIT to try it out with the lovely ladies in this ensemble!

The new approach to the Tiny Funny Women Festival. I love love love getting to spend 6 hours working with one coach and the same group of women and the connection and trust that come with that continuity. Love it!

Day 137
The Smarty McSmartypants who had the idea to include a workshop about stand-up comedy in the loving, safe milieu of TFWF. Thank you!!

All the other amazingly brave and funny women who did the stand-up workshop and showcase with me. I know that improv seems scary to a lot of people — but for us improvisers, writing something down beforehand and then performing THAT felt pretty damn scary. Yay, us! We did it! πŸ˜‰

All the other amazingly brave and funny women at TFWF – the coaches, the volunteers who put so much energy into making this run smoothly, everyone who made TFWF 2015 so great. This rich and beautifully intense weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the whole year!

Tamara, for thinking to ask about food sensitivities which meant I got pizza and didn’t have to go find my own dinner! Yum! πŸ™‚

The lovely people who came to see the shows and support us. What a fabulous community this is!

Appreciations Year Three: Day 135

Getting invoices done early – and, as I’m doing them, feeling so lucky to work with people I like and admire so much. Pretty awesome.

More appreciation spreadsheet fun: color each cell a new custom color after writing that day’s appreciations. Pretty rainbow spreadsheet!

Fresh, clean notebooks and notepads. I don’t know why they please me so much, but they do.

Appreciations Year Three: Day 134 (the mind-bogglingly deep and thoughtful first appreciation of 2015…or not…edition)

My vacuum cleaner. So much more efficient at picking up all those pine needles than sweeping. Plus, the floor feels so nice when it’s newly vacuumed.

A warm house in which I can walk around barefoot in January, in Minnesota. Pretty sweet.

Operation pare-down’s progress: 5 bags of books on their way out the door (nevermind the several hundred that are staying… it still counts!) πŸ˜‰

This year’s fun game of leaving all of last year’s appreciations in the copy of the spreadsheet until I get to that day, so I can read them when I write my new ones. Haha! I’m appreciating the anticipation of enjoying last year’s appreciations. Hah. That makes me giggle.
